  1. I use to use the NUC platform alot, and they rock USFF is fun
  2. This full size 5050 is what work used for small site NVR. It had 4 drives in it but in a very crude way, but it worked. Just note there are tons of deals to be found LIKE THIS if you dig and wait for some hardware,
  3. We run the 5050 at work and the one thing that will limit you is the MT case, They dont have much room for extra drives, You might be able to put 2 3.5in hdds inside of the case while using the m.2 sata for the boot drive. If that fits what you are looking for in a build for storage it would run it. For the processor the i7 7500 is not a bad for running Hexos as well as other applications on top of it. The stock cpu cooler would be fine but it would be best practice to take it off and re-thermal paste it. if you have the opportunity I would look for a full sized 5050 that would give you some more space, the other option is to Frankenstein that motherboard into a more conventional case but that would take some adaptors and rewiring. Hope this helps
  4. So I moved chassis completely , added a whole new HBA, added new drives changed processor and memory , and added more HDDS . everything was running like a champ until I biffed up some back end things that I was able to fix
  5. As I stated I have changed hardware and it boots back up and goes with the flow
  6. I dont know your needs but this is whats running my NAS. 15 4tb drives rtx 2060
  7. Nice setup, it will defiantly keep ya warm , my 530 sure does
  8. Yeah I have many hours driving in this stuff so we went to a closed lot and had some fun in the truck earlier. The best thing today was listening to the police and people calling in because kids and adult were out on the neighborhoods with atv, golf carts and UTV's, the captains answer was it is not a priority . Fu n times catching almost a full foot 20 miles from the coast
  9. Can someone tell me what this is? South Louisiana is confused
  10. It appears This is the card that will work for you. It seems the card you have won't even take a custom flash for HBA mode
  11. What is the MB you are using ?? It could be me but I always try and use a SAS card vs on board headers for any thing data related
  12. That has been the case for a few of us, Ive changed hardware twice now and it jumped off without a hitch
  13. That's definitely solid
  14. Ya know the cool thing about home labs today is you don't need all the enterprise grade hardware as it use to seem. A few SFF systems pull a premium while maximizing space and power usage. I remember when we have 4 2u servers stacked in a closet
  15. lol nah I dont have that much gear, all the good stuff is things at the office
  16. funny as you say this I am currently doing some network cleanup and adding new wires for new toys
  17. how you think i get my gains? I dead lift loaded 4u's for fun lol
  18. Wanna make it funnier? Just know im 6'4 280lb kmsl
  19. Hold on , got to have my school girl that just won some KPOP tickets moment. Thanks @jonp for taking the dive and for everyone else that is making this a awesome community. I am along for the ride to see where HexOS take us during the road to Alpha.
  20. For that I'm using a distro called Urbackup. It find on my server and pushes the backups to the hexos. Urbackup does an entire backup of a drive for my main systems plus their storage drives
  21. So the 2 ways I use my nas are using Tailscale for creating a VPN and allowing me to login to the nas or keep shared folders synced to my computers. As far as sharing photos ect I am using immich paired with cloudflair " using one of my domains" and share that access out that way
  22. So a bit if a update, I have been fighting this all week, I isolates the dead drive in truenas , stopped and outted the drive . allowed the system to resilver then put in a new drive to make a hot spare and everything was running smooth. The next day is when all the goofy stuff was going on with the deck so I cam home and started making back ups for truenas ect. went to bed and everything was working well. While at work the following day I started getting notifications from Up time robot telling me that the links going to my hexos was down . Logged into the deck and server not online. After some trouble shooting I had found that I no longer had tailscale access nor could i ping it from any internal computer. Got home and got into the truenas interface and rebooted the server. Once I gained UI access it showed it was trying to resilver the pool again, not thinking about I let it ride out. Well it was stuck at 18% silvering for 2 days so I started to try and delete the array and start over "just move all my data back." AND now I am at a point where im just going to rebuild the OS and all because the only access that I have is Truenas interface
  23. So the stand offs I have used in the past are These , As far as front panel connections go you may have to make the adapter if there is not one made. Put it all together and it should fit in that case
  24. Isn't that the point of HexOs ? Add drives and let the os create pools for you, so where the people that dont understand Truenas should be able to create a Nas without the need to learn the baseline OS ?
  25. @Dylan I just have to work with ALOT of them . So in theory yes this motherboard can be put into a normal case, A few things you will have to keep in mind is there will be some needs for modifications. As in the pin headers for power on , also they make all the adapter cables to use a normal power supply. For mounting into another case it will you should get some of the motherboard standoffs to fit, as for the other mounting locations that dont fit you can make new holes or go the safer route and get the plastic motherboard standoffs " usually cheap" . If you have any questions Im glad to lend a helping hand
