  1. Shott answer yes. Long answer is when you swap hardware you'll need to make sure that when you do swap you'll need to make sure that you reconfigure the new bios to point to your boot drive and turn off secure boot. I have done alot with swapping hardware in testing since the first drop of hexOs and it is still running with out any issues
  2. Personally I wouldn't see that being a option due to the fact on how Hex is baked into the build of Truenas
  3. So I have yet to try VM's in Hex OS yet but I am a avid Prox user " 4 compute nodes and 5 Ceph cluster nodes with a 60tb prox backup server" My main question is do you need all things in one box? The way I run my home prox setup is using hexos as a mass storage media and the prox uses SSD for VM/Container OS storage.
  4. thats what im running is the 9100 link to the eby seller i used
  5. I have ran a single 16 module in testing with truenas and didn't see a real performance change. I need to grab a r540 off the shelf and test a single 32 to see how it effects but in a normal OS dual channel memory is the way to go
  6. You can look at others builds LINKED HERE From my own perspective I am still running my nas "15 4tb drives and a 2060" on a 8th gen i3 8350k. It has plex , ubiquity server, immich , and other running with very low cpu usage "most days under 30%" With that said that looks to be a solid start
  7. depending how large of storage you plan to use as much as you can afford. I run 32gb in my system but wish it was 64 or 128
  8. You might have to cross flash the Hxxx card for "it HBA" mode linked HERE>>>> I had mine fully populated with 4gb sticks "they are cheap " if you can get 8's snag them
  9. I question what HBA is in the devices
  10. Only Thing I have Shelved was more drives, I have been working threw the current build and found once it is deployed and running " with out the HBA card in my system dying " it has been solid

    help

What errors are you getting and to get shell you could plug in a monitor to the hardware HexOs is powered by
  12. So the simplest way that I do this is Via Tailscale, I have the mapped drive from Hexos Via the Ip given by Tailscale running in Cobian Backup to do complete backups "only transferring new files" from my home PC's data drive. I also have the same thing running with URbackup on hexos that does a complete backup of the whole C drive into a img incase of my laptop becoming lost or stolen.
  13. wheres the pics
  14. Try to reinstall the OS and be logged into the dock when it comes online. I had to do this for some reason it didnt sync the first go around
  15. In prox if your pool is only showing as 1 drive it will do this, it does not know that the back end is 2 drives becasue it only sees the 1.
  16. Got a snip of the error or full log of the errors
  17. Would you happen to be using a 1 drive pool?
  18. The tin snips broke my heart, Bring it to me so I can hit it with the plasma or 4in grinder lol
  19. the 630 is a good server chassis. they can be a power hog just make sure you do some proper maintenance and give it some new thermal paste
  20. I just want a HBA and a 48 drive JBOD
  21. I have used gear builds posted like this
  22. You can also change the password from the NAS itsself . You will need to plug in a keyboard and monitor and go threw the options to reset password for GUI login
