I was testing File Browser but my HBA died and it will be a min before i can get the nas back online. but I will say with the time i had it running it was nice that i could point to my phones web browser and get files that way
-
I would let the n100 be a backup for major data and use that powerhouse of a 8525 do the rest
-
Im not saying that it wont happen yet HexOs is still very young in its life let it get some ground underneath its feet and there is no clue how far it will grow with all the cool toys out there

Feature Request related to Storage
ubergeek replied to brandman's topic in Roadmap & Feature Requests
What hyper hypervisor are you using? -
With that being said is it really that difficult to get 2 small drives to do testing with? I mean my first pool was a pair of 1tb desktop drives so I could test drive it

what I would build

Tbh its not bad, You dont need a massive power house to be a good nas, It helpsif you are going to stuff it full of APPS . And I wouldnt say 1000w is overkill. I wish I had it in my build. "15x 3.5 drives on a 650" and I am using all the adaptors to make it work but still have the headroom for a rtx2060. I also just built a back up server on the cheap for what storage is in it here
-
If I was going all new this would be my build out NEW EGG BUNDLE " CPU MOBO RAM PSU" Silverstone-Technology-CS380B-Storage-Cases NAS CASE OF CHOICE 12g SAS HDD CONTROLLER just add storage
-
So this is another build I have put together Ryzen 3600x 16gb 3200 ram 7x 4tb ebay drives 8 port sli raid card. Total in on this project was right about $500 usd.

I assume you are using the password you setup in the install? if that is still not working you will need to plug in a monitor, keyboard and mouse to the NAS and you will have the ability to change the truenas_admin password
-
This is a loaded question lol. I have seen many people but the amazon pci / m.2 to sata adaptors but If im spending the money I'd look for a used SLI Raid card thats Flashed for IT mode " AKA it will pass threw the connected device without needing to make it a Raid Storage. I personally run THIS CARD IN MY BUILD and if you are worried about adding more than 8 drives It is easy to put in a sas expansion card to add more. Also note you can add this card and still use the existing sata on the motherboard with out issues

Ill be posting to this later today / tonight

I was looking in the official release notes

You would need to make a Linux "mostly ubuntu" VM and install in side of there, I am planning on working on how to do VMs in hexos in the future
