  1. i get that itch and i suspect most of us here do too. instead of going crazy with over 13 drives and swapping out your parts consider using fewer high capacity 24tb-ish drives. with every additional drive you are likely adding $5-15 dollars worth of electricity to your bill each year and it adds up. You can also go nuts with what you have now and then when you use up all your storage space you can start working on a 2nd server since the only thing better than 1 server is multiple servers lol.
  2. when i was a lot younger i would walk by a beautiful blue 350z everyday on my way to school. Ever since then i have really liked the Z. when the 370z came out i thought i liked how it was a bit longer which just made the car look so much sleeker From day 1 i was not a fan at all of the new z's 😬 grille. but the nismo front end looks so nice.
  3. Nothing exciting from me either. Currently using my 2013 nissan murano. With how fast the prices of the new Z is dropping i am very tempted to get one, one of these days

  5. glad to hear it'll be moved cause i think today alone i answered 3 at least different threads about it
  6. it really depends on what you plan to use the server for. if your current machine adequately meets your needs might as well stick to it if it doesnt then it is time to upgrade. this n100 machine gets recommended a fair bit on this form however if say plex with subtitles are important to you i would get a used desktop or a i5 8500t + motherboard on ebay for around $100

    One drive pool

at this moment you can make that pool via truenas ui as a one drive "stripe" pool however this causes hexos to freak out at the time and i wouldn't recommend it. i too am waiting for hexos to not freak out when adding one drive pools since i would like a single ssd to be my app drive The team is aware we want single drive pools and it will be coming in a future update. At this time there is no eta
  8. as far as i can tell all the "native" hexos apps are just streamlined docker installations. It'll defintely be a lot easier to use te hexos 1 click installs when the apps are supported (currently only immich and plex are 1 click supported with more to come) if an app isnt supported you can only request for it and wait it gets 1 click supported or you install it like you have previously theoretically there should be no difference regardless of whichever method you choose

    New build

also worth considering what you want from your cache drive. Read caches are a thing but write cache ssds are not really a thing. The ram is mostly used as the write cache. For more information look up l2arc vs slog
  10. turn off your machine go to the deck hit the disconnect server button turn on new server adopt new server in the deck
  11. for the boot drive you can get away with anything over 16gb but might be safer to go with 32gb+ i've been recommending jonsbo cases with the n4 being a pretty great value while looking pretty good too. if you care about things like subtitles i would suggest getting a used i5 8500t on ebay with a used motherboard.
  12. i'm hopeful that it will just know that it is installed
  13. i think during the beta you can move your license as many times as you want but i think the team mentioned they plan on limiting it in the future to every X amount of decomissions in Z months

    Nextcloud

just curious what else can it do that gdrive cant?
  15. found my extender. I tried it. i placed the extender about 5 feet from the router i was able to access my smb share on my mac that is connected to my main network via wifi with no issues. a 1.45gb file took about 2 minutes 45 seconds to upload it took about 2:12 to retrieve that file when directly wired to my router it took around 1:10 to upload the file and then 18 seconds to retrieve that file
  16. I would happily accept being wrong about this. I didn't even think about theoretical transfer tools.
  17. i think it actually depends if you wanna just decommission a sever and then turn on a new server, 1 license is enough. but if you want to move the data from one server to another before decommissioning it then you might need need a second license
  18. Yeah i defintely look at things through my own lens a lot. I love watching anime with subtitles so its important to me to bring up where things might go wrong with it but i do try to also be objective
  19. i'm just going off of posts i read on reddit. N100 will work on jellyfin plex without subtitles here is one of the threads ive seen
  20. i don't have a kill a watt for me to test. if there is a way to test in software i'd be more than happy to check edit: found a kill a watt for a reasonable price online, i will use it if i can get it. That said still curious about any software method
  21. n100 will struggle with plex/jellyfin if things like subtitles are at all important. but im sure itd be more than adequate for say next cloud or immich usb drives are not recommended for truenas/hexos in general 9500t will likely serve you quite well for a long time using an hba + a 3d printed enclosure sounds like a solid idea as of now hexos requires all drives (exccept the boot drive) to be in a pool of at least 2 drives
  22. if i can find my extender i guess i can try it. Its an older model so i imagine newer ones with wifi 6e or 7 would work slightly better but im sure itll be more than enough to tell if network shares work
  23. some sections of the form let you edit your posts and others don't. I think it was also mentioned the edit timeout is also quite short. i think hexos is close to having a good enough forum if they move search to a more obvious place allow editing in all areas without timeout add the upvote/downvote to all sections add some more of the text modifiers to the mobile version of the site
  24. the main work around is to get something like a tp link wifi extender with an ethernet port but they hurt power efficiency compared to built in wifi and they are also more flakey from my experience
