@Erik Andersen I suspect (but do not know for certain) that this is to prevent a spammer from skewing post upvotes causing threads to appear more engaging or helpful than they might organically be.

@Erik Andersen That's some nice gear, you (and HexOS) will get there. I too will be implementing tailscale for the fist time as soon as my new chassis arrives. Hi @Flo You first have to decide whether the inherent risk of using non-ECC RAM is for your use-case and needs. Let that drive which hardware you go with. Which is to say, if you hedge and go for non-ECC RAM and you experience an issue related to RAM error that would've been corrected with ECC, you're going to kick yourself. If that's true, then wait until you can afford that additional cost. If not, and you can live with the added risk of running non-ECC, especially with some of what the new chipsets offer, go with that. There is no magic here. Just your ability to honestly determine what you're needs are as measure against your risk tolerance, timeline and budget. Good luck and welcome to the fold!

From what I can tell, if you have existing PoE or USB-C powered sources then you wouldn't need to use the included EU power cable.

Yeah, I'd spend some time reading the forums and playing with your new system (great job BTW!!). This will help you better identify where you might want to spend some money on a future upgrade as well as grow your knowledge of ZFS, the filesystem used by HexOS. Hope that make sense as was helpful!

Hey @EPoot Yeah, you found the answer. ZFS, the filesystem used in HexOS is a (awesome) type of software RAID. Additional hardware between the filesystem and disks interfere with ZFS doing it's thing. I'm horribly oversimplifying but seeing as you've reached the correct conclusion, I'd only recommend spending some time reading up on ZFS. It's a fun, dynamic filesystem that, when managed well, can keep your data safe and scale very well over time. Have fun!

Hi @Nside - It may be worth considering running HexOS on your current configuration for two reasons. It will give you the space to see how your system performs enabling you to identify where you might want to make changes in a future build. This will also give you the opportunity to run HexOS and "kick the tires" as it were. Completely up to you and I know that new hardware fever but, maybe see if running it now BEFORE a purchase better informs you of how you'll spend your future dollars. Enjoy!

I like where @Theo's heads at here. @Mawson is a ninja in thread management and might have some good insights as well. I think if we could use the forums approach to test, validate and refine the tutorials, that would help ensure a polished product if they were able to be added to the UI. Just a thought.

It took me awhile to understand some of the key concepts as I had always worked with hardware raid and software raid was really new to me at the time.
