  1. No need to reinstall from the iso. When the update is out you’ll just see it when you login to deck. The OS update can then be applied from within the deck and all it will require when done is a restart of the server.
  2. Hi all, Big news! I’m spending this weekend reviewing the preview build for our Q2 update (final sanity and bug checks). Did a cursory preview today with the team and they really knocked it out of the park! Next week this update will be live along with the ability to natively update the OS to 24.10.2.2 and we will also be publishing a new ISO for this build as well. Expect a blog with even more info. Just wanted to share this exciting news with everyone! I have a busy weekend ahead of me….
  3. Hi there and our apologies for any confusion. I looked up your purchase with the details you posted. Looks like you used a protonmail.com email address to purchase HexOS. That's different from this account. Hit "forgot your password" on the login screen and use your protonmail account to have your login credentials sent to you for that. If you'd like me to merge those accounts, send an email to support@hexos.com from your protonmail account used to purchase and we'll take care of that for you. Thanks!
  4. Only 24.10 train for the Q2 update for now. Technically users who upgrade via TrueNAS UI can go to 25.04 right now, but just know that we haven't done any extensive testing with HexOS against that release yet, so you would be completely trailblazing ahead of us. By 1.0, we should pretty close to being in lockstep with TrueNAS releases. I would imagine as TrueNAS major releases come out, we make them available to our users within a few weeks.
  5. Thanks for your feedback and I wholeheartedly agree. I have gotten some very helpful messages from another community member here who actually acts as a Community Manager for some other pretty popular products. We are planning to expand the team in the future specifically in this area. I'm confident that by the end of Q3, you'll be much happier with the frequency of communication and updates!
  6. Update: As of 6/23, we have updated the ISO available in our READ ME FIRST post to the 24.10.2.2 version. New users installing with this version should NOT be affected by the issue documented below. Hi all, As of June 1st, attempts to install or update apps via either the HexOS or TrueNAS interface (running on 24.10.0.0) will fail. Users affected by this issue are welcome to install the 24.10.2.2 update via the TrueNAS interface to immediately resolve this issue. Our sincerest apologies to anyone currently affected by this. In the next two weeks, we will be publishing our Q2 update which will include the ability to update your underlying HexOS version to run on TrueNAS SCALE 24.10.2.2. Sincerest Regards, Jon
  7. Yes we see this as well and it was a misreading on the update notes on our part. The q2 update is going to be out soon which will enable OS updates. In the meantime users that feel comfortable updating via the TrueNAS UI can go to 24.10.2.2. This should not break any current functionality with command deck, but please let us know if you see anything.
  8. Please reach out to us at support@hexos.com and we will directly assist each of you! Thank you!!
  9. This is correct.
  10. I think the core of your question is whether or not we have any type of revenue sharing agreement with iXsystems on lifetime licenses and the simple answer to that question is no, we do not.

    Kernel?

Hi there and thanks for the questions! Long story short, we are not fundamentally changing the base of TrueNAS at this time which means that we are not offering a newer kernel version or different VM capabilities. With VMs in particular, can you walk me through what you are trying to do that isn’t currently possible with TrueNAS?
  12. I’ll try to get a screen shot / record a demo for you guys this week. No promises as we have a pretty packed week planned right now, but if I can squeeze in a pull preview test, I’ll screen grab it for you.
  13. I’m confused. He was asking for kernel swap for hardware support. I would think that means drivers. Maybe I’m misunderstanding?
  14. Forgive the ignorance but what about this hardware isn’t supported? NIC? Storage controller? Something else?
  15. In case there is any confusion still on this topic, a local UI is coming...100%. We actually have already begun work (we have a docker container with the UI running at this point, but it's not fully functional yet).
  16. As Magnus mentioned above, this is a key area for him. It does take time for us to get all of the accessibility features right, but this isn't an area we intend to ignore. Accessibility is important to us.
  17. What specific hardware are you referring to?
  18. The YouTube video goes deep in how space gets allocated, but to be perfectly honest, it's probably still going to be a little difficult for non-storage developers to easily decipher. We'll post another blog in the future with more details on the methods used and how space gets calculated. For now, we just wanted to let people know that this is coming, a basic example of how it differs from the traditional way, and why we sponsored it.
  19. FYI, blog post on the subject is now up: https://hexos.com/blog/introducing-zfs-anyraid-sponsored-by-eshtek

    OS Updates

Right, we're not filtering out the messages from TrueNAS yet, so those update notifications are coming from that, not us. Safe to ignore for now. We will have OS updates in the near future with the new Activity card we are adding in the Q2 update.
  21. Blog post: https://hexos.com/blog/introducing-zfs-anyraid-sponsored-by-eshtek For those that missed it yesterday, AnyRaid was announced on the ZFS Leadership call. This Eshtek-sponsored feature will bring mixed size drive support to OpenZFS. We will be posting a blog about this in more detail soon! Edit: Here's a link to the YouTube video from the ZFS Leadership call. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MifloJFCpLU
  22. I don't see anything wrong 😉
  23. Later this year. We're still in beta for now and for good reason. You're going to see a LOT of changes in Q3/Q4.
