jerod Posted June 27 Posted June 27 Manual Pool Configuration Customize your storage pools with granular control over drive participation. This even includes the ability to create 1-drive pools (without redundancy or expandability). This applies to both our setup wizard and the main storage page itself. Proper warnings are displayed based on the risk profile of the pool being configured. In addition, users that previously "disconnected" (this process is now referred to as "Unclaiming") their server from HexOS can easily reconnect through the setup wizard without being forced to recreate their storage pools from scratch (just click "skip" when on the storage configuration page of the wizard). New Activity Center The Health card has been replaced with Activity. Activity tracks everything you do in HexOS: our custom orchestration, server events, alerts, updates, and dismissals. Dismissed activities are reviewable from the activity archive. Update to TrueNAS SCALE 24.10.2.2 Another benefit of the new activity center is the ability to update the OS running on your local server itself. You will find the ability to update the OS also in the new Activity Center on the Dashboard. User Settings & Preferences Improvements Light or dark theme, preferred language, hidden dashboard cards, these all now sync and persist across browser sessions. The dashboard is yours to shape and customize as you see fit. UI and Stability Improvements Improved card layout and polish across the UI, the password field now supports toggling visibility, username character limit raised to 30, and plenty of behind the scenes stability fixes. Customizable Location Preferences You can now set exactly your performance versus capacity pools, app locations and other storage preferences that allow our one click installs to work. Works across all curated and custom apps. How to Update Updating the Command Deck itself is an action performed by the HexOS development team. User's are not required to perform any action to receive the update. It will appear automatically upon login after it goes live. For users still running the 24.10.0.0 build of TrueNAS SCALE, you will see an "Update Available" notification under the Activity Center once you login. Once you engage the update, do NOT power off your system. Wait for the update to download and restart your server automatically. Your system will automatically reconnect to the Command Deck when complete. The time this process can take will vary based on your Internet connection. Known Issues There is a TrueNAS SCALE bug that affects HexOS users when switching your network configuration from DHCP to Static; manually setting DNS before making this change will prevent the issue; we have a planned hotfix for this as well. Skipping storage pool creation in the wizard allows users to create pools within TrueNAS and they will show up in HexOS; WARNING: we have not tested all pool layouts (or sub-pools either), experiment with great caution. 16 9
jared-pacefactory Posted June 27 Posted June 27 The deck.hexos.com page was saying 'down for maintenance'. Looks like it has returned to a normal login page. However when I try to login now, it just redirects me to the same login page. Any idea what's happening?

Forsaken Posted June 27 Posted June 27 I'm also having issues, the login one that you mention got resolved by cleaning the caché. Then I actually got to see the dashboard, but it was saying that my truenas version was incompatible, but not option to update (I was waiting in version 24.10.0.0 of truenas to actually test the update process through hexos) but now I have another issue, I'm stuck in "This server is not available", but I can login just fine directly to truenas.
Sonic Posted June 27 Posted June 27 I think the HexOs team is in the middle of the deployment of the update. I will check within a few hours. At the moment I keep returning to the login screen.

However now when I attempt to add a new folder to my storage pool, I get an error saying "Failed to create folder 'name_of_folder'". Not sure why that is...
Mindless999 Posted June 27 Posted June 27 For the "known issue" to first change the DNS; this looks to also not be able to be done? Just installed a new server, and I wanted to set a static IP. Adjusting the DNS and pressing update will not do anything. Let me know if I should put it in a different post. I tried to fill in DNS 1 only, DNS 1 & 2, and DNS 1, 2, & 3. None of it made me be able to update it.

With Incognito/private I am able to get in. With Google Chrome I didn't notice a login loop.

Insanittyx Posted June 27 Posted June 27 (edited) The update button from Settings -> Network -> Edit does nothing. I tried changing my server name but it's not working. In DevTools I don't see a request going out Edited June 27 by Insanittyx
jonp Posted June 27 Posted June 27 Hi all!! We spent the day today rolling out the update and we are finally done! Everyone should be seeing the new update as soon as you login to the deck. Happy testing!! 4

jonp Posted June 27 Posted June 27 22 minutes ago, Mawson said: Definitely cache related then Yeah we are aware of this and looking at it, but clearing the last 1 hour of your browser history on chrome also fixes this issue. This does appear to be a chrome specific issue so if anyone runs into this with a different browser, let us know. 1

Sonic Posted June 28 Posted June 28 (edited) @jonp, I will try this tomorrow morning. It’s now 2:11 here. I was already sleeping for a few hours 😀. I had to open the front door, because my son forgot his keys. 😂. First I will try deleting 1 HR of cache. If it don’t solve the issue, I will clear 24 hours. I will keep you updated Edited June 28 by Sonic 2
Jakor Posted June 28 Posted June 28 Just wanted to share that the update to hexOS and then Truenas went off without a hitch on my server! Very excited to know that I’ll be able to reclaim my pool now if something ever happens to my hexOS install! Thank you very much to everyone on the team that helped put this together! 1

Furthermore we need to add ZFS pool upgrade operations to our process as well. all of that said, I have a system on 25.04 that definitely booted and connected to deck ok, but at present, cpu and memory usage reporting is borked 😬 Probably just an API call change we need to update, but we will get it fixed soon enough. As an fyi, if we do decide to update users to 25.04, it will likely be 25.04.2. 1

PsychoWards Posted June 28 Posted June 28 Hey, Will there be a dedicated feedback/suggestion thread? I'm currently on holiday so I can only check the dashboard on my mobile phone. My pools are shown correctly and thanks to the single drive pool support I can finally use the dashboard again =D There are however 2 things I noticed: In the activity center, where the notifications are shown, there was a button to mark everything as read. However after pressing it, the activity center is still showing that there are new messages, the mark all as read button doesn't seem to do anything. I now need to press the X on each message individually to get rid of the new messages. In the storage pool window, where you see the details of a storage pool, there is a blue exclamation mark symbol next to the extendable/not extendable text. This seems to show a text on mouse over, however mouse over isn't exactly working on a mobile phone. Not sure how many people are using a mobile phone with the deck, but this is something I noticed. That's all the rest I've checked is working perfect. =D 1
