  1. GL.inet Comet looks also interesting. Especially this specs: 2K@60FPS video with H.264 hardware encoding for smooth performance Ultra-low latency (30ms-60ms) for real-time remote control And almost the same pricepoint
  2. I thought the same. I also have a BliKVM V4, which cost me more then 200 euro’s. It does the job, but very unpolished compared to the JetKVM.
  3. And ServerTheHome, quote: Synology Lost the Plot with Hard Drive Locking Move https://www.servethehome.com/synology-lost-the-plot-with-hard-drive-locking-move/ It's really a pitty, but it seems Synology don't want to have consumers as customers
  4. This reviewof Linus is spot on. The reviews of Wundertech is also pretty clear https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VBNxWyQhQbY
  5. The HexOs is / was waiting for the TrueNas 25.04 release. This release will be the fundament for VM support in HexOs See: https://hexos.com/blog/hexos-q1-status-update Quote: Rescheduling VM Support Similar to what happened with Docker, iXsystems is in the process of migrating TrueNAS SCALE to a new VM and Linux Container management environment in their next major release, 25.04. Incus promises to provide a few key feature improvements, including a better web-based VNC agent. As such, focusing on VM management features in the short term didn’t make sense given that the ground would be moving beneath our feet. Furthermore, in temperature checking our current community, it appears that increasing application support and buddy backups are of a higher desire. It is for these reasons we have lower the priority of VM features. Keep in mind, you can still create VMs within TrueNAS itself, and we will give you start/stop controls from our Command Deck dashboard for them.
  6. I use Proxmox and I installed HexOs in a VM with SATA and NVME passtrough. I am not the only one in this forum with such a setup. In the past I used VMWare ESXi, but since the Broadcom takeover it is not suitable for a homelab anymore.
  7. @Iliyria, Is there a specific reason you created one big RaidZ2 pool with 13 HDDs? Why not e.g. a pool with 7 HDDs and one with 6 HDDs? From what I have read online people recommend raidz2 if the number of disks are between 8 - 12 because the resilver time is too long and there's a high chance of another disk failing during the process. But say that it's better to use less disks in a pool. I try to learn a lot about ZFS.
  8. Please share your experiences. I am looking forward to it. Which VM hosts do you have in mind to start with?
  9. Looks nice! A real homelab monster. Only the amount of memory is a little bit low 😀. Just joking What do you want to do with so much capacity? I am really curious. I don't think you only want to use this machine for storage.
  10. There was no TrueNas update via HexOs yet. I suspect that you did run the TrueNas update via TrueNas. I think this the reason that you are unable to Connect to the HexOs deck.
  11. Several other users have also a WTR Pro (Intel and AMD version) and are able to run HexOs without any issue. So the hardware is not the problem. Did you run by any change a TrueNas update?

    One drive pool

For test purposes you can also install HexOs in a VM and create two or three virtual harddisks. I run my test HexOs setup in Proxmox on a mini PC with 1 SSD
  13. I am still very happy with my JetKVMs. Really helpful. Please share your experiences after the waiting game.
  14. This should work. I suggest that you first move your drives as to the new system. And I it works, then clone the boot drive. I know @ubergeek migrated his drives in a new system more then once. I you search in this forum on his name, you will find more guidance.
  15. Truenas has no option to control fan speeds. There are some solutions available, but as far as I know they are very experimental. See as example: https://github.com/jp-powers/fan-control This script is tested in Proxmox on a Dell Poweredge R730xd. Since Proxmox is also Linux based, perhaps this script will also work in Truenas Scale. (Truenas Core is based on FreeBSD).

    Server Migration

You can reuse your HexOs license. If you disconnect your current server, then you are able to claim your new server in the HexOs deck. You can still use your Old server via the TrueNas interface. There is no such thing as automated migration available in HexOs
  17. I really have to do a deep dive in ZFS. I have learned in several forums that in specific cases RaidZ1 is more safe compared to RaidZ2. But a don't know in which cases and why. Still learning
  18. I am also not a ZFS expert, but I think you created striped mirrors. Since you are playing a little, you can always test the robustness of your setup by removing 1 or 2 SSDs and see what happens
  19. BTW, If you want to use RAIDZ2, then you need to use the TrueNas interface . HexOs only can create a mirror or RaidZ1. RaidZ2 support is on the HexOs roadmap. If you do a search in this forum on RaidZ2, you will find some guidance.
  20. RAID-Z2 is more or less the equivalent of RAID6
  21. I use HexOs as local storage and as backup target. I am looking forward to the buddy backup option. on my wishlist is an Active Backup (Microsoft 365) clone. That’s the reason I still have my Synology NAS up and running
  22. I know this issue occurs when a pool is created via Truenas. Did one of you created a pool via Truenas?
  23. This is a really good advice!. It will prevent data loss in the future.
