I personally didn’t have an issue with this on one of my servers. But if I remember that issue was a docker install issue with the initial setup. Quick resolution would be a full reinstall at the start post drive wipes

If you haven't already i'd definitely check out serverpartdeals.com. Got 4 Exos drives from them and like others said cheaper per TB than Iron wolfs. and even with shipping International, in my case UK, still comes out cheaper.

@Todd Miller i assume you are aware you can roll back the app updates if you do run into issues?
-
@Duncan Innes Currently when the time comes, new features should be able to be turned on / off for specific users, so those eager to test the latest and greatest may be able to get that chance. I'm sure they'll be further updates on this in the future as we get closer to more frequent releases post V1.0. As for updates, i hope we'll have more news shortly, though if you haven't read it already, the Q1 Update from Jon, does it's best to explain why the team had to reevaluate their own timelines / plan after such a successful launch. So keep an eye out for future updates coming soon! 🙏🏻

Literally had that recently when getting my remote server, bought a second hand system with a board that had built in IPMI, but then it doesn't work, as to use the software even in a browser, it needs Java that's so old it's blocked across ALL OS's... 🫠 i even created a windows 7 VM to attempt to use it to no avail haha... Jet KVM > Plug & Play! 🙏🏻

Yeah found the last email i received March 26th

I believe it'll be on Amazon within the next few weeks. But kickstarter is over.

So far my Jet's have been flawless and simple installs. Be interested to see how they compare to the GL.inet Comet that'll come out soon.
-
Look's nice, be curious to see what chipsets it comes with though + how it'll compare to the Ugreen DXP6800 or DXP8800.

Depends how you set up your library settings / scheduled tasks. If you've got it creating thumbnails, credit detection and other tasks when new content is added, then yes on first install it'll take a while! But likewise, you could allocate more CPU resource to Plex to speed things up? My 10TB of data was done in 12-24 hours

Going to check this out, UI wise looks like a cookie cutter replacement to Arc, which was my go to for the last 6 months.

Interesting, i guess my 'newbie' approach and outlook would be; Buy 2 or more drives Run conveyance test to ensure not DOA. If passed > Run Long SMART test If passed > Ok to deploy inside a Raid Pool with at least 1 drive failure acceptable If drive fails within RMA Window > Return / replace 'Quickly' if drive fails outside RMA window but Inside warranty window > Return / replace 'longer' If driver fails outside Warranty window > Open wallet... Again seeing all the drive failure charts, you'll never be able to predict 'when' a drive will fail. but most likely it'll be DOA / within the first year. OR it could die 5-10 years later... As long as you've got the built in redundancy and backups, you should be ok.

In my 3rd test system (Qnap Ts-251+) i was forced to use usb drives as i was unable to use the embedded proprietary m.2 ssd for boot. So i got x2 Sandisk Ultra fit usb's, I then installed the OS in mirrored mode for redundancy. Speed wise, no major sluggishness other than the device itself being fairly old now. And as it's a 3rd test system i'm not concerned about failures ect. BUT like others have said, it's not ideal and if you are doing it, at least run 2 or more for redundancy. or better yet a usb > sata cable then use a 2.5" ssd.

Would not just running a Conveyance + Long smart test be enough?
-
So i personally have HASS running on an RPI5. And have the NUT Server + Client running on that seamlessly (Once set up, again docs are not ideal, had to manually specify the usb port.) I started my HASS journey running on a VM on a mac mini, but prefer running bare metal for stability sake, and simplicity of attaching devices. But when i set up my remote Hex server at my parents, i installed HASS on the VM inside the TNUI (Tried the App, but too many network issues) + VM is super easy to passthrough the usb device for the UPS + A zigbee dongle.

@JaredG Out of curiosity do you have Home Assistant? I personally ended up connecting my UPS to this and then i use the truenas integration so i can shut it down with automations if needed. As i had a lot of issues with the UPS setup in truenas and i think at one point there was a bug where it wouldn't show any telemetry.

As mine were manufactured refurbished I was just doing conveyance + short test, to ensure not DOA. Then a long test. once completed just set up the standard smart tests schedules and let them be. No issues to date.

Does it, on the site it looked like you couldn't get multi material support?
-
Yeah was considering the K2 Combo, steep price compared to the Bambu Lab P1S 3D.... Also the Prusa core one, but doesn't have multi material support.
-
Hey All, i'm sure a lot of this community are in the hacker / maker space. I'm thinking of getting a 3D Printer, and was considering a Bamboo labs until their recent issues... Thus, Of the competitors, what would people suggest? My preferred requirements are; Enclosed case Multi filament feeder A good mix of fast <> high resolution (Potential to configure either way Ideally as plug and play as possible, but still options to upgrade / customise

Yeah it's expensive in the UK atm. i personally got my dives from https://serverpartdeals.com/ - i got the manufacturer refurbished 20tb Exos drives, so unlike what @Sonic pointed to you are somewhat more guaranteed to be getting good drives, unlike other places... Plus they come with a 2 year warranty. IF you really want the longer warranty then your best bet is to get new drives with the ~5 year warranty. Tax wise, i paid for the duty included in the shipping for simplicity, arguably the price can come close / match some drives on other sites in the uk with the tax added, but again depends on what you're after. For me getting high capacity drives was more worth it vs lower capacity ones.

Why we NEED local config acces, eventually.

Local Hex UI is coming and was confirmed. it will arrive with the launch of V1 in the coming months. Quote from the hexos.com roadmap; -
Maybe try a direct connect using the server ip instead of the hostname, just curious if it might help. Also you're definitely logged in with write permission to that space correct?
