Verify App Curation

Within the dashboard, each curated app has a Reset App Curation button, which presumably restores aspects of the app configuration—such as the app folder location, permissions, and other curated settings—to their expected values.

This is a useful feature, but it would be even more valuable to have a Verify App Curation function. Alternatively, the system could periodically verify the configuration and only display Reset App Curation when it detects that the current configuration differs from the curated configuration.

The main use case for me is that I have several apps that were deployed before they became curated. I would like to be able to see exactly what differs between my current configuration and the curated configuration.

Ideally, the verification would provide a summary of the differences, allowing users to:

• See which settings or files differ from the curated configuration.

• Preview what would be changed by Reset App Curation.

• Determine whether the differences are intentional or simply remnants of an older deployment.

• Manually make changes where appropriate to bring an existing deployment into alignment with the curated configuration, without necessarily having to reset the entire curation.

For example, rather than simply being told that an app's curation is out of sync, it would be helpful to see something along the lines of:

App curation differs from the current configuration

• App directory: differs

• Directory ownership: differs

• Directory permissions: matches

• Configuration file: matches

• Required datasets: differs

Reset App Curation would make the following changes: ...

This would make the existing Reset App Curation functionality much more transparent and useful, particularly for users who deployed apps before they were curated and want to understand what has changed without blindly resetting their existing configuration.
