New to hex os

Hi, I finally gotten around to building the server and the install. I've had a key since launch just finally gotten around to actually using it. 

 

Is there any cool things to do with the server other then tail scale and jellyfin??

Oh boy, where to start.  Have you integrated the new NAS into you home infrastructure?  Do you want to learn TrueNAS (or at least try it out)?  Do you have things around the house you want to automate?  Are there young people in your house that may want to learn computers/networking/Nas in general?  You have at least 40 curated apps that cover a lot of different jobs and over 400 apps in the TrueNAS catalog, many of which will not be curated.  And if that is not enough, docker (in its many forms) open up thousands more apps.  If you want to go big, setup Jellyfin or Emby to be accessible to the outside world in a secure way then show us how you did it.  I believe a few folks have it working through Tailscale but a real challenge would be to get it working on a smart TV in the home of your folks or any 'computer challenged' person..  While this is just a challenge off the top of my head, there will be many like this going forward.  Eshtek is still focusing on core development and general app curations so it could be a while before they start taking on work like this.  So if nothing else appeals to you (and you have the time), jump into the catalogs and see what calls out to you.  I find that when I look at the curated apps as they are announced I catch myself saying 'Why curate that?' or 'What do people need that for?'.  But when someone says what they use it for its often a facepalm or duh.  That is now especially true for the self hosted stuff you do want companies using to train AI.  If you don't already have a mental list, your not really trying so go for it.

Thanks for the reply, very good insight for me being new to home server stuff. I do have things automated with Google home system currently I would say. More or less looking for other then tailscale and jellyfin, what would be the programs that are "essential" some would say. Hopefully that clears up more.
