Just turned my server on after about 3 months of being offline. Everything upgraded and rebooted just fine except Immich. The error i receive is saying the app needs to be stopped but it is already in a stopped state. HexOS UI has the app permanently in an upgrading state and stuck at 20%
Any help would be appreciated

its actually that the app must NOT be in a stopped state.
its a silly error but you can resolve it by running the app and then once it is running starting the update

Yeah....reading rainbow obviously did nothing for me. But i started the app and tried again, it wont upgrade. Now im getting the storage upgrade issue

I see a button in TrueNAS app manager "Use old storage configuration" im going to download all my stuff, uncheck this option and then see if i can upgrade

I downloaded all my data, deselected the "Old Storage Configuration", re selected the storage locations where they used to be and the app was able to update. Unfortunately now its stuck thrashing between running and deployed and back again. I even deleted the app and re-installed with the same problem. Unusable

Finally got this working. I went into the TrueNAS admin page and deleted every Immich dataset I could. It wouldn't let me delete HDDs/Pictures/immich because it was busy. Guessing one of my other apps was using the pictures folder and locking the everything. Either way, decided to try the app install despite that last dataset being there and it worked. Re-uploading all my stuff

Has anyone tried completly uninstalling Immich and reinstalling to solve this upgrade issue? What happens to the data inside Immich?

Also, here is another post that is talking about this topic:

I did a couple times actually.  I screwed the first reinstall when I messed with the install script.  The second was a standard curated install.  I didn't follow any guide.  I just uninstalled, deleted the old datasets then reinstalled.  No idea why this is so complicated because it couldn't have been easier for me.

but you deleted the old datasets? so you lost all data?
I want to upgrade, but keep my data

I did about 8 or 9 times now.  And while I have done a lot of volume testing I have everything backed up and continue to treat this experience as a beta test.  I'm not sure we are far enough down the path to treat it as anything else.  People are still yelling the Immich is broken and how can Eshtek have such a crap product.  And when they find out it was actually a TrueNAS change you start to see complaints about how this product can't accommodate this type of change.  Then the complaints asking for a conversion process from old to new but that was manual so it didn't work for everyone.  So now people have partial changes from several tries and a broken product.  Then guys like me who left the safety of the TrueNAS catalog and followed Docker install videos.  so I am not making things any easier.  I made a joke a while back that go-live would be everyone formatting their systems and all starting from the same point.  I said it a second time not to long ago because of this Immich specifically because I wasn't joking anymore.  Now I can't see any way around it.  How do you explain to the support team everything that got you to the situation your in?  They know that firestorm is coming.

So I do apologise to responding with this doom and gloom post to your very simple and straightforward request.  I sincerely hope that they have a way to help you because I had to reload 1.25 TB of images and almost 10TB of movies (with a few family vacation videos sprinkled in.  Honestly, I thought that was why rsync was going to be the answer but I guess nothing is ever that easy.  Best of luck, really.
