azamites97 Posted December 1, 2024 Posted December 1, 2024 Hello everybody! I’m planning on running this software on a beelink mini pc I have lying around, but the form factor really isn’t conducive to attaching hard drives via sata cable. What would be my next best option? A USB3 hdd enclosure hooked up to the back? Or should I just build or buy a different pc all together? Any input is appreciated, I am new to this world. Thank you!
Mobius Posted December 1, 2024 Posted December 1, 2024 it is best practice to not use external storage so building a new pc woul make more sense. this is a comment i made in another thread that can be a place to start
Dylan Posted December 1, 2024 Posted December 1, 2024 Better to declare what your use-case/needs are as well as budget. Hard to help if I don't know how you intend to use a system and what your constraints may be (costs, power, noise etc).
Bob le con Posted December 1, 2024 Posted December 1, 2024 If you're the tinkerer kind, you could use nvme adapter to plug sata drives to your MiniPC board. Of course it would imply homemade box, but doable
deadlymouse Posted December 1, 2024 Posted December 1, 2024 (edited) You'd be rolling the dice, but something like this MIGHT work. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0BZHSK29B I see two reviews claiming it works with TrueNAS. Though I also see one review claiming it doesn't work with TrueNAS Core (I believe HexOS is based on TrueNAS Scale, not Core) Edit: I don't know whether HexOS would have extra difficulties handling this sort of configuration.
