Question

Posted (edited)

I wanted to add a single SSD pool to my system but HexOS wont let you create a pool without at least two drives so I had to do that manually in truenas. Hopefully there are plans to allow having a single drive pool?

After adding my single SSD pool in truenas the HexOS UI seems to be broken. I will attach a picture of what I am seeing. It now shows my server health is not running normally and when I click on it to see what the problem is it just tries to load endlessly and never shows me. Also my original storage pool now no longer shows up under the storage list on the main page and under the storage page it says there are no storage pools present on the system.

My system is running completely normal and truenas doesn't show any issues with anything. Just wanted to report these issues incase there may be a solution or if it would help the devs out in any way. Thanks and cant wait for 1.0!

It has been covered a few times and I have figgured this out my self , if only using a single drive even when added in truenas it currently breaks the hexos dash. You will need atleast a pair of drives if you want to use the hex dashboard. The devs know about this but its unclear where on the roadmap the single drive feature will be fixed.

We didn’t see an updated roadmap yet. I am very curious and looking forward to it.

I don't think they have posted one, but i am as well interested to see what it looks like , hopefully in the next month they will have something to show.

Ya, I wish I knew this before purchasing a license (foolish me). My NAS only has one U.2 8TB SSD for apps/flash storage, with HDD for redundant backups. My options are now slow HDD, a new NAS or dump my expensive enterprise SSD. :/

Do you have any other HW options to either augment or build out a new device? @ubergeek has some great posts about how to source used hardware to get something up and running on the cheap.

Don't get discouraged and ask for help if you need it!!

Oh, I have options. I have one server running OMV & another running TrueNAS Scale. ... I was hoping to migrate from OMV/Docker to Scale/Kubernetes, but we see how that panned out. Thought I would try HexOS, but I won't make the jump until single drive storage is allowed. Of course I understand HexOS is just starting out, but surprised they forced multiple drives only in a beta.
