Laurin Eder Posted December 24, 2024 Posted December 24, 2024 (edited) Hi Guys, I am a complete newbie to server infrastructure (I have built a few PC´s though) and I am planning on converting an old laptop to a storage server to replace my current photo backup solution, which is the free 15gb version of google photos. 15 gb isnt nearly enough though... I want something that automatically backs up my photos while my phone has a wifi connection and doesent have a monthly service fee. Would that work with just Hex-OS, or would I need additional App, and if so which do you think would fit my usecase best? As I saied I am a complete newbie so in case you are so generous and take a few minutes of your time to answer to this request please explain it to me like I am like 10 years old so I actually have a chance of understanding. If you think i should do more research before starting such a project I would be happy to hear your suggestions of, for example Tech-Youtubers that explain this stuff beginner-friendly. Thanks a lot for your help in advance, Laurin. Edited December 24, 2024 by Laurin Eder Format
Dylan Posted December 24, 2024 Posted December 24, 2024 Hi @Laurin Eder Welcome! I would recommend reading our hardware compatibility guide first (located HERE. Once you confirm you have the requisite hardware I would next read up on Immich which is targeted as a Google Photos backup alternative. Good luck!
