It is a must these days to have TailScale support, especially for secure remote access.

It is far too easy to mess up a WireGaurd/OpenVPN Config, if the goal is security and simplicity, Tailscale VPN access should be a high priority.

Tailscale delivered in an Ansible deliverable that unpacks through HexOS is my vision. HexOS is the killer app for Tailscale, and vice versa.

Can confirm that Tailscale works on HexOS when installed through the TrueNAS UI.

This is good news! Have you been able to test it with the built-in apps plex/immich? Hoping to share a custom headscale vpn with family for these apps

Can confirm it works with Plex, haven't setup Immich yet but I assume it'll work. If I get around to it this evening I'll let you know how it goes.

100% Love Tailscale. I would guess it can be installed by accessing the TrueNAS interface - and doesn't look terribly difficult to configure there. Native integration would be ideal though.

My work is upgrading our machines to Win11 and it's setting up Global Protect as an always on VPN. Previously I've been using WireGuard and connecting to my own WG VPN on my network when I needed to, or using my work VPN when I needed that too. But with the new always on VPN policy is no-user installed VPN. Okay, that sucks but it's their machine they can set the rules. I'll just sync when I'm at home and on my network... oh wait, always on VPN means even when I'm physically on my network I'm not on my network.

So... does TailScale work differently enough from a traditional VPN that I might be able to use it?
