  1. I got Dockge running on my hexos machine. This allows me to install arbitrary docker compose projects. Probably a easy app to get curated. There i already a pull request open for it (on github docs). So if you need to run docker compose today. Use its instal script or try and install via the Truenas UI hexos or truneas dont run Kubernetes anymore. Natively you got a backend of Docker, VM, or incus LXC. Truenas just added beta support for incus. You can try there ui to get Kubernetes running? Otherwise you can get you own Kubernetes running quit easily with something like https://github.com/Esteban-Cruz/K8s-in-incus if you willing to just run a bash script.
  2. There is also a bug in trueness I think at the moment were drives get pinged for temperature every so often which tends to disable spin down. Not sure if that is fixed yet
  3. My Nvidia gpu worked out of the box with jellyfin. Note if you drop in a gpu after installing a app like jellyfin you might have to go in to the trunas ui to enable it . However during updates it tended to bork out leaving me frustrated trying to get it "reset". Which involved going in Trueness and clicking the uninstall Nivea drivers and reinstall button a few times. I like to not run plex beacuse jellyfin has allot of customization plugins etc that give me the feeling of control. Also the cost. However You dont always need a gpu for transcoding at all. During these down time (Aka i forgot to reenable the drivers) i did not notice at all that my streaming was degraded. Most media servers can and will just stream to your device in the original encoding/codec when bandwidth allows it. Since i watched using a full fledged browser substiles are also not a problem because jellfin had no need to "bake" in subtitles. which is only done for players that dont support subtitles. So a gpu is not needed for a nas. Most "clients" handle codecs perfectly. anything stronger a raperpie 3 can playback full hd perfectly. Note If you dont have a Plex pass a gpu wont even work with your plex isntance. Imich also has a option were it can borrow a dekstop GPU. So for workloads that require a gpu you can just give it access to your home dekstop for a wile and then disable it.
  4. I noticed some apps like imich like to lock there databases with passwords. These passwords get auto-generated by the installer. I would like a button that allows me to download all settings and config choices i made. like all the different custom script I added. And the password and biddings that got made for curated apps. Trueness has a sort of similar button like this but it does not give me the app settings. I would love to downloads such a file in 1 click before any major update.
  5. I was trying to figure this out too. Tailscale can do this. But it seems you have to setup a jellyfin.local. or jellyfin.internal dns network on your local lan. Then tailscale can proxy .internal adrresss to your local lan. Stil not 100% on this. P.s what do you mean with HEXos proxy manger
  6. a quick way to share acces is via tailscale and tdsproxy. tailsale has a video on youtube about setting up tdsproxy. then you can use the tailscale app to share a link to jellyfin. might make a full guide on this setup one day. I got as far as being able to generarate a share link in the android of taikscale. Havent actually tested using jellyfin
  7. even better if it would work with tsdproxy out of the box
  8. domain/SSL certificate are a pain in the ass to get for non-techies. Synology made it very easy for me to get a sub-domain linked to my nas. (a my domain. Synology. Me sudomain ) After buying my own domain. I was able to get a ssl certificate from within my synogely nas web interface linked to by c-naming my domain to synology.me (by generating a letsencrypt cert) Now I am able to assign a ssl certificate to a docker container and have it be adresable by sudomaining my baught domain. As wel as configure basic access rules for those containers. This process is buggy as hell. And fails utterly on complex compose projects. And getting a wildcard ssl certificate is completely out. So you have to pick all the subdomains names you want when generating the ssl certificate. However it complete allows me to let portfowarding be handled by my nass. And have 1 set of user accounts be the truth for access control. I hope hexos can be as powerful as this in the future. For example taking over portfowarding would already be a great start. Because then there would be just 1 ui. And may be mange ssl certifates in 1 spot
  9. Would love some budget recomdations. (in power or price) I dusted off my old machine and it seems to have gone to meets its maker.
