Right - you would need the correlating WIFI standards like 6e, 7 or something and good WIFI reception.

N100 is not really powerful or has 10G but it can transcode up to four 4k streams in parallel. What often gets overlooked is a fitting case for your use cases. HexOS is primarily build as an easy to use NAS OS so it makes sense to plan for lots of space for drives. In a few months i will probably build a server around the Jonsbo N5.

A question to that: What are reactions used for in context to a user profile (except the obvious - showing a reaction)

Would be great but i think it will not be possible on more than a few applications. There are too many diverse settings unique to the game server itself. Maybe there will be an app like Pterodactyl which will be streamlined for the most popular games but any wider range i can't imagine.

Yeah - any future "App Store" in HexOs would be beside the point of the OS if there were no possibilities to hide non curated apps.

I really want to see language specific sections in the future of the HexOS forum as that would be an easier and better onboarding when the community around HexOS is stable. Right now we are in an infancy stage but when HexOS reaches "adolescence" it might pay off to have multilingual contents for users.

Or like the possibility to transfer a bought license ONE time (per license). That's another way we could gift friends and family.

That's something i think will be necessary in the future when you are accessing and administering your servers/s via the webadmin console. It's nice to have it available from everywhere but it also bears risks which would be somewhat mitigated by TOTP. Will probably be a thing when stable releases are out.

That's something i really miss in NAS software in general. How nice would it be to store your device under stairs, behind some furniture and just forget its there. This would also have some nice side effects like not having to explain why there is another device in the house or what it cost 😆 You have to be creative. You can laugh all you want but my ideal place to put my devices if WIFI was available would be the toilet. (WIFI only for non critical devices/services)

That's something with would be really nice to have. Think: data/hardware security and some other specs viewable with one glance in a dashboard like view.

Like others already said immich, plex and some security service (scanning/protection). Also awesome would be some kind of an integrated backup solution (buddy/offsite -backup). My take right now is that we are "wishing upon stars" right now in hindsight of apps/functionality and maybe some will be disappointed with the beta but it's work in progress and will take time to build up to a solid product.

AFAIK a connection to the internet is only necessary when activating the OS. The Caveat is that this will probably only be possible when the local UI is available. Which should be in the stable version. That's my take with the available information right now..

LTT teased a specific video for HexOS. In like within 24 hours of the WAN Show.

Absolute worst case scenario is that i will refund if HexOS does not deliver what i expect. I don't really think i will come to that but a plan b does not hurt 🤡

Nah -around #1100. Just bought a 2nd LT license and it was around #1650. Now i just have to wait.

I built my first NAS two months ago with N100 MB and N2 from Jonsbo. Like you said the N5 will be necessary when you want to populate more than five drives. I already have my eyes on this case. When it's available for a reasonable price in the EU i probably will buy instantly. Don't know about the hardware though....

Will HexOS support energy saving with PowerTop or other methods if the used hardware supports it ?

@jonp please post information about the timeline for the outgoing beta invites when the structuring is done. Like when will for example customer #2000 get the invite...

Thanks for this link. I'm considering running HexOs on it until i know more about it/until we have a stable version. Then i will maybe switch to a Jonsbo N5 case with still uncertain hardware. Are there other interesting offers like the one @Droz posted ?

New hardware for HexOS. Hopefully there will be cheaper stuff at the beginning of 2025.
