Great feature idea.  Having not spent more than 3 seconds thinking about the security implications, I totally see us doing this ;-).

The tricky part is granular access control. Maybe you want them to see that server and even do a few things, but maybe you don't want them to be able to do EVERYTHING such as delete or shutdown/reboot. But I think we will have a solution for that too 😉

That would be ideal somewhen in the future. I have two licenses and plan to put one physically at a family members home for the buddy backup and their personal use.

  2. You can always build your own systems. There are a lot of guides online. There  is the N100 CPU by Intel already on motherboards to buy which is on the cheaper side.

I think these N100 MBs are great hardware to dip your toes into building your own system. Just think about your needs and google a bit. You can also always ask questions about compatibility and purpose of hardware here

  3. i just ordered a small NAS with a N100 for the family. Its also available with a stronger risen cpu but it can't transcode as well as the N100 (up to 4 4k streams)

oh, I like it, though I dont really know specifics. I am looking for hardware myself, did you build this new or repurpose it from other sources? Also any idea on what your total cost ended up being?

You can also just build your own NAS to satisfy your use cases

In the EU you are always allowed to resell a license, regardless of what the EULA states.
In this early stage I guess they are focused on getting the OS of the ground and making people happy and then turning back for regulation compliance work at a later stage. 🙂

    Tell that to steam 🤣

Or like the possibility to transfer a bought license ONE time (per license). That's another way we could gift friends and family.

Can't edit here.  I ment that a bought license can only be transferred once as long as it is valid.

ie: I bought two lifetime licenses and want to gift one to a family member. After the transfer from my account to the family members the license is useable for the family member but can't be transferred again to another account.

  6. HexOS should at least be able to run them. If there will be some kind of streamlining in hindsight of installation and or post installation settings it takes time. HexOS has barely started and there may be around 200 users with beta access right now.

My take is: There will be a one click installation for Pterodactyl and others. Just give it time.

same, austrian here, no credit card => missing out 😕

@Quacksel most austrian banks issue their cards with CC functions. Maybe you just will have to activate the CC function via your banking institute.
