  1. The pool will be limited to the smallest drive in the pool. https://serverfault.com/questions/163687/zfs-can-one-mirrored-pair-be-a-different-size-than-another-pair Though, if you slowly upgrade them to all match, once they do, it'll immediately increase your capacity to the total storage available.
  2. The LTT video pretty much covered it all, actually. There's really no tinkering. It's a straightforward wizard kind of thing. Probably more useful to get some guides on the post-setup dashboard/UI, in my opinion. That said, there IS a visual guide you can view once you have gotten access to the expanded Forums (which you get once you get your invite). This only covers the actual install process, none of the post-installation configs.
  3. TrueNas does not have buddy backup, this is a HexOS addition.

    Buddy Backup

In response to your last question - from what information we have, the buddy backup system is a HexOS addition, so assuming the website is correct, you would need 2 HexOS systems
  5. I was able to finish the install, but I can't create storage pools without 2 spare disks.
  6. Fun little anecdote - I was there when Foundry VTT was basically born. After the Roll20 controversy some years back, Atropos was checking out this software - GM Forge. It was not well coded, and eventually Atropos decided to just make his own. I remember him discussing with the GM Forge developer about a few things. https://store.steampowered.com/app/842250/GM_Forge__Virtual_Tabletop/E
  7. You still have access to the TrueNas interface, so anything it can do you can still do.
  8. Nice, caching drive FTW!
  9. You detach it from the dashboard. https://deck.hexos.com/
  10. You're basically asking about the Arr stack. https://wiki.servarr.com/ https://trash-guides.info/
  11. I bet they're getting LTT Video Hugged.
  12. Agreed! Burying the search like that is rough.
  13. It was the top thread on the board - it was pinned 😄 Glad you got it fixed! I kinda do hope they swap to Discourse instead of Invision
  14. Currently doesn't look like there is one - I would definitely like a search as well. Maybe if they swap to Discourse?
  15. Did you miss the stickied thread? It's a known issue. They have since swapped the default to dark mode, but same issue of the toggle not working. Toggle on the bottom right of the forums does work.
  16. Already a thread on this question 🙂
  17. Haven't had any issues, really. I've been using it since August 2021. The biggest issue is sometimes the drives don't spin up, but that just means I have to push a power button on the front to get it rolling. It's been running attached a Windows box, and I've been using StableBit Drivepool and Scanner to pool the drives and monitor them.
  18. This might be my "dream" nas case, but for now I'm sticking to https://sabrent.com/products/ds-sc4b Works pretty good in a pinch.
  19. I think the Buddy Backup stuff is a HexOS addition to TrueNas, and doesn't come in TrueNAS. AS mentioned in this thread, moving from TrueNas to HexOS eventually should become seamless if your brother ever can be convinced to give it a try 😉
  20. Nah, from all I've read: lifetime is lifetime. Buy it now, use it then 🙂
  21. Buddy Backup is included https://hexos.com/blog/the-road-to-10
  22. or AMP would be nice https://cubecoders.com/AMP
  23. Of course NASCompares got in and made a video already. Aussie sumbish ❤️
  24. The app list has Plex and Immach as HexOS one-click installs, and a bunch of options based on TrueNas and says they'll need manual configuration. Minecraft and Palworld were included
  25. TrueNAS Scale uses ZFS, instead of RAID https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2020/05/zfs-versus-raid-eight-ironwolf-disks-two-filesystems-one-winner/
