Hi there! This is not supported in the beta. We will be looking at this later. I have seen multiple people get creative however, but please be careful with your data!

Support for software RAID with different-sized drives?
Magnus replied to Jam's question in OS & Features
Hi there! A quick look on google returns this; TrueNAS/HexOS is a Linux system, so if this is accurate, it would not work. -
Hi there! I can't give a specific date, but VMs is among the things that are coming next: https://hexos.com/blog/the-road-to-10

Are new app one click installs going to be implemented server side?
Magnus replied to Mobius's question in OS & Features
Hi there! This will happen server side. -
is there a way to run a minecraft server on a hexos
Magnus replied to kevinpan's topic in Other Questions
Hi there! We certainly would like to add a bunch of game servers, but it might take a little while. -
Hi there! No need to worry about that, we scale based on usage, not sales.

Hi there! One license lets you claim and manage a single server. As noted above, you may disconnect that server and claim another server. Your first server then essentially becomes a TrueNAS server and you will no longer get any services, features or updates from HexOS at that point. Edit: In the future we may put limits on how often you can disconnect and claim servers in this way.

Hi there! I would hazard a guess and say you should be able to do everything you want with a single machine (just remember we're still in beta). Only other recommendation I would mention is to have 3 same size drives for your storage pool, as this lets you expand it later!

Hi there! Transferring a license to another individual is against our terms and conditions. If there was an error with the email we might be able to help you out, send a message to support (just remember we have a bit of a waiting time atm)
-
It starts when you get your invite. From our terms: Refunds Any and all purchases are subject to a 30-day refund policy. To request a refund, email us at support@hexos.com using the email account associated with your purchase. For Early Access orders, the 30-days starts from the date you receive your invite to participate in the beta.

Hi there! There won't be a free trial, but if you regret your purchase we have a 30-day refund policy!

Hi there! While I don't have an answer for you now, this is good point we need to consider when developing snapshots, thank you!

Hi there! An offline local UI is coming with the 1.0 release. You will need to be online for initial setup, but after that you can leave your server offline. Any features that require internet like app installs will of course not be available until you go online again.

Hi there! Just remember to avoid SMR drives (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shingled_magnetic_recording) Those does not work well with ZFS/RAID.
-
Hi there! Are you saying you’re trying to install HexOS on that? The specs you listed falls a bit short of the minimum requirements (8GB RAM)
-
Hi there! It should work just fine for light workloads and general file storage. But don’t expect miracles if you want to run things like Plex which can be quite demanding depending on the type of video files.
-
Hi there! It’s a great idea, but probably very difficult to implement, even as an approximation. It might be possible to get actual usage out of a connected UPS, but I’m just speculating now.
-
If you want to manage two servers at the same time, and utilise our coming buddy backup service, you will need two licenses. There are no limits right now, but we will probably enforce a grace period for disconnecting and reconnecting servers.
-
Hi there! It’s absolutely intended that you can have multiple pools, both for different size drives and different types (ssd vs hdd). Actually haven’t tested this myself (I’m the designer, not a developer), but the setup should hopefully suggest a good set of pools for you.
-
Hi there! If it’s available as a docker container it’s possible!
-
Hi there! If you create a Backup share on your server, you can use the built in tools in Windows and macOS to backup your PCs.

Hi there! Firstly, Linus is not part of the team making HexOS and he will not be answering here. Secondly, I’m not sure if I understand your question, but right now you cannot connect to a HexOS server remotely to access installed apps or files. Only remote server management is available currently.

Hi there! This is definitely something we want to add!

Hi there! I just want to add that we will be providing additional ways to pay for HexOS that will be cheaper than a $299 lifetime. Yes, this will be a subscription.
