  1. Doesn’t truly support running as a VM found in the FAQ page hexos.com/early-access-faq

    AI?

I’m interested in learning whether AI is integrated, possibly as a bot to assist with setup or to answer questions. Additionally, I’d like to know if it can support running AI applications. I suspect there’s some level of AI integration for optimizing drive configuration settings during the initial setup. I’m curious about the potential possibilities if AI were built-in. Perhaps, with a powerful GPU, it could handle processing to support an app like Ollama that would essentially be your own AI model with various packages, all operating locally.
  3. I know that Unraid allows you to create docker containers but also allows you to use virtual machines (VMs). Will HexOS support both, or will it be more focused on docker containers? Also i never had success with creating VM's in TrueNas, It was a pain
  4. Tailscale is available on TrueNAS, so it may also be available from HexOS. However, if HexOS doesn't build it in, you should still be able to access the TrueNAS platform, although it might take a bit of work.
  5. I think this feature would be incredibly useful for people who don't have a second server or backup location. I believe they are building in a feature similar to Synology's, which allows you to peer-share data between two locations/your friends or family for an offsite backup. But having cloud storage built in that you could sync it to would be great. For example, you could sync a folder called "Documents" but not your Plex storage.

    Coral TPU

HexOS is based on TrueNAS, and TrueNAS does not currently support the Coral TPU. However, HexOS may add support in the future. I'd say don't expect it before the first public release at the start of 2025. In the meantime, you may be able to follow some of the other guides for TrueNAS to add the drivers for the Coral TPU. As they have stated HexOS just runs on top of truenas so it should give you the ability to go more in depth with getting that device working.
  7. I'm not a developer, so take what I say with a grain of salt until it's confirmed. It's likely that HexOS won't support wifi because it's based on TrueNAS, which doesn't support wifi. However, I do believe that if the developers wanted to, they could add wifi support in the future. But as of now, I'd say that it won't support wifi.
  8. I believe that’s part of their goal with HexOS with the deck.hexos.com

  10. I'm not sure if this would work if your drives are in a RAID, but I'm not a developer so I could be wrong. Depending on how much data you have it may be best to move it to like an external drive and move it from there but 🤷‍♀️. I'd also be interested as its based on True NAS so if your running ZFS there MAY be an options to import the ZFS pool.
  11. I'd be interesting to see if there will eventually be a mobile app that you can use to upload/download files from your nas.
  12. i doubt that would be top priority but i can definitely see that being useful in the future.
  13. After everything gets built out more, as we are still in pre-release, how will upgrading or replacing your server be handled? I understand if this is still unknown, but I'm curious if you'll need to purchase a new license after a year or two if you want to upgrade/replace your server. Or if the option will be available to transfer it.
