i'm not sure about the drivers but you can navigate to the truenas UI and click the enable nvidia passthrough for plex it's just a checkbox and it seems to work for me but i don't have a nvidia card i can use to test currently.

Accessing the truenas ui to enable GPU passthrough. it does seem to work but your mileage may very.
-
Plex took about 15 minutes to installed. there were 0 settings or anything to configure. any setting (Currently in this beta version) to change goes back into the truenas UI

Add hardware after install or complete build first?
Midnight2ss replied to Chris's question in OS & Features
I believe the only thing locked in is if you create a pool with only 2 drive you can't expand that pool. other than that i think you should be able to upgrade it. -
Had a bit of an issue with the itinial install but i think that was due to a ssd failure and not the OS. Switched to a different drive and installed it seamlessly. Super impressed so far.
-
Likely once already setup you will have a 10 days to move or something like that. Even better would be if they had a migration tool at some point to transfer all settings such as ip addresses, users, data, and such and with that it would also transfer the license without any problems

HexOS Home assistant integration (Not Server)
Midnight2ss replied to Theo's topic in Roadmap & Feature Requests
I think it would be really cool if the HexOS Home Assistant integration could send a wake-on-LAN signal to power on a device that has stopped responding or is powered off. also checking hard drive health. and storage usage. and i imagine many more options that could base rules off of lol. hard drive failing HA tells alexa who orders a new drive. Wouldn't actually set that up but hey it would be cool. -
I'd like to help test new features for HexOS. I'm not an expert in anything, but I have a decent amount of networking and computer knowledge from my job. I'd be happy to test new features and report on any issues I find. But we shall see what they allow
-
agreed but currently we will all be beta testers. the lab rats
-
Yeah agreed there’s many things that will be interesting to see how they handle it. Definitely excited though
-
I was thinking the same but I could also seem them having dedicated test people as they probably don’t want to support the average Joe who installs the beta and complains that it has some insatiability. But I could see maybe something like dev beta for dedicated first testers then a public beta for people who are ok with a few issues here and there but want to see the new features first and then the main release
-
Im curious to know if once the public release is available next year if there will be an option to go to a beta version as I assume when the public release is out HexOS will update to that? But if you wanted to run beta after understanding the risks. In order to test out features in development. Or will it just be the public releases?

You may be able to link PayPal to privacy.com which will allow for a temp card that you can use most likely
-
It’d be interesting to know but I think most people will probably see it first on the video tmr assuming that is the surprise they talked about on one of the other forums. But in their first week I can definitely see them getting 10k+ orders. I do not think they expected as many people to be so anticipating a easy to setup nas but 🤷♂️

I’m pretty sure with 2 drives it will run in raid 1 aka mirror so adding additional drives would just make it a third disk of the same thing as you can’t change a raid after it’s been created at least not with anything on them. I’m sure they will probably do that as this is for home users who do not know much about raid as it is the safest option for two drives. However on that note I wonder if you could manually make it striped array and have that expandability if your willing to accept the risks

I’m #024, i know they are working hard to get the invites sent out. But it did just come out and I don’t think they were expecting as many people to flood the site as we have 😂
-
possibly but its likely like other licenses and is tied to the account, but not sure. but i definitely see it being each has your own account to manage and keep personal documents personal. as there will i believe the ability to access files/manage HexOS from anywhere using the deck.hexos.com website. but will have to wait for a response by the team or find out ourselves once its launched/able to be tested
-
I would imagine that each of you could have separate accounts and use the buddy system. "Buddy" suggests individual, so it should be more secure. Each of you could have separate accounts, as I doubt it would be very secure to allow full access to someone else's server. as it would under 1 account. but could be wrong. i assume. you would have an account with a license for your local/personal server. and your friend would have his own account with license for their server. likely there will be an option to share/setup buddy backup using like emails/account. with access only to backup/replication settings. like maybe what files to backup and schedule, and such. this is just a assumption
-
It may actually be a thing that wouldn’t be too hard to setup but I’m not sure. This is on their website hexos.com
-
I think they are building a nextcloud like cloud into the OS itself without the need of an app
-
I’m interested in whether there will be a ‘migrate’ tool or option to transfer other settings to a new server, eliminating the need to create new users, reinstall applications, and settings basic system settings. Such as static IP addresses and such
-
you can occasionally visit a local computer store. They might be willing to let you have a computer they were planning to recycle. However, they might remove the hard drive. It would be more advisable to obtain fresh, unused drives for the computer.
-
You may be better off checking Facebook marketplace or something for an older used pc to test/play around with. But this is just a guess. As it’s in beta so having it hosted elsewhere may or may not cause further issues.
