you can access it from the web on your phone, currently there isn't much of a need for an app until they maybe allow you to access files from everywhere
-
i'm quite interested in this as it looks like truenas itself has it built in, i cant imagine there would be a whole lot to port it over.🤷♀️
-
pi hole worked for me
-
i wont even lie i knew that but i complete was lost on what we were talking about appearantly as i was referencing pool cache. i feel really dumb bc i knew you can have redundant os drives 🤦♀️

The only practical use I see for it right now is as a secondary management option, in case something goes wrong while setting a static IP or making other network changes. Using Wi-Fi for storage transfers would, in my opinion, defeat the purpose of having a NAS since the transfer speeds would be painfully slow. Personally, I prefer to hardwire everything, including printers, whenever possible. It just seems to result in fewer issues overall. That said, this is just my perspective as someone who works with tech daily and sees the challenges Wi-Fi connections can cause. With Wi-Fi 7, the situation might improve, but I’m not sure how they’d configure it to ensure it only uses Wi-Fi 6+ and not older standards if the network card supports them. Considering Wi-Fi 7 was only released this year, it’ll take some time for the necessary ecosystem—hardware, routers, and other network gear—to fully adopt it. To truly benefit, devices like phones and computers would also need to support it.

my guess is that it may be an option in the future or maybe when they add the ability for manual configuration of pools
-
i did that last night! after creating a thread about my drive not working and then realizing it was dead lol
-
currently no, once i move it to prod and i stop trying to break it lol i will eventually get another drive/pull one from my unused machine for that purpose, as it is a lot better for redundancy.
-
After testing i forgot that in this current beta there is NO custom/manual pool configuration so if the automatic wizard doesn't show it currently you cannot do it
-
email, also i was order #024 so i was fairly sure id be part of the first group lol
-
Actually found my other drive, I’m testing it now I will let you know how it goes
-
It didn’t but I only had 3 drives as the drive I was going to use for cache had died 😂 I believe I have another drive around so I may try again later
-
Also under your uploaded picture right under the name it says it’s 724 kB and the error says it’s supports up to 501.76 kB

It is probably and I feel they just need to find a way to port over the required config settings once they do that I imagine it would be fairly easy for them to add steps during install of other apps that will require them that way you can stay in the HexOS ui
-
Here’s a list of the apps currently however like I said it will need the truenas ui to install everything but the “recommended” ones HexOS.pdf
-
There’s a decent amount of apps that just show up however currently most except for plex and immich currently just take you to the truenas ui to configure however going to the ui I was able to install 1 or 2 apps without really any issues just leaving most default but something I’d definitely wants to mess around with eventually
-
By default it’s on dhcp so changing routers would be plug and play if you had static up then you would have to change it. However in the current build changing the ip address seems to break deck.hexos.com and is only accessible via the old truenas ui

There is one problem with WiFi. It would I think cause a ton of issues as well WiFi never seems to work all of the time plus when transferring data any distance from the router and the connection is basically non existent you can take a gig connection and basically cut it in half which it you plan to back up to something else like the buddy backup could cause issues also if transferring very large files or streaming from pled while the nas is on WiFi I could see that having issues as well
-
Let me what your interested in seeing
-
What would you like to know/ see shares work flawlessly between iOS windows and Linux, don’t have a Mac to test but I imagine it would be as easy as iOS
-
Currently the only 2 supported apps are plex and immich every other apps needs to be setup and installed from truenas currently
-
Its a Network Attached Storage with App such as Plex Media streaming that you can download. And other things in the future. they will eventually also have support for virtual machines and such. Network attached storage - Folders/files that can be accessed by any device on the same network Not sure if i answered your question or not
-
i'm not sure about the drivers but you can navigate to the truenas UI and click the enable nvidia passthrough for plex it's just a checkbox and it seems to work for me but i don't have a nvidia card i can use to test currently.
