furryx9 Posted November 29, 2024 Posted November 29, 2024 I see in the FAQ that an expanded pool should not exceed 12 drives. Is that a limitation of the filesystem used (I assume ZFS) ? I was planning on getting something like a 45drives Storinator that contains more than 12 drive slots. Will I be forced to create multiple pools? Quote
jonp Posted November 30, 2024 Posted November 30, 2024 The recommendation limits are currently hard enforced, but will be soft enforced in the future. ZFS will allow you to do whatever you want, but we're guiding users to a best practices setup. The issue is that the wider a given pool, the higher likelihood for multi-device failure before the pool is repaired, leading to complete data loss. 2 Quote
