Theo Posted November 29, 2024 Posted November 29, 2024 It would be great to have an integration into home assistant to monitor our NAS + have automation abilities based on the data. is this something already in the works in-house? Or will we need to wait for a community integration? 6 Quote
Smir Posted November 30, 2024 Posted November 30, 2024 Ooo I hope so, this would be handy, am still new to HA and trying to learn stuff, and stil lyet to make a good dashboard, but I do like this idea, I have a Lenovo M11 ready to stick up on a wall somewhere and have it as a "wall panel" 1 Quote
Midnight2ss Posted November 30, 2024 Posted November 30, 2024 I think it would be really cool if the HexOS Home Assistant integration could send a wake-on-LAN signal to power on a device that has stopped responding or is powered off. also checking hard drive health. and storage usage. and i imagine many more options that could base rules off of lol. hard drive failing HA tells alexa who orders a new drive. Wouldn't actually set that up but hey it would be cool. Quote
Jackman Posted November 30, 2024 Posted November 30, 2024 Might I suggest the integration run through mqtt? That allows for hass discovery sure but I can also hook into it from other automation systems as well. Buy 1 get 1 free. Quote
Clixxi Posted November 30, 2024 Posted November 30, 2024 (edited) I doubt that this will be possible as other NAS software developers would already have done that. Without deep tech knowledge i think it will be a real hassle to manage login credentials via a third service while keeping both systems secure. That also means that you have to run HASS on another machine. @Midnight2ss Wake on lan needs special hardware. Edited November 30, 2024 by Clixxi Quote
Jackman Posted December 1, 2024 Posted December 1, 2024 There are options out there for competitors that do this. Quote

The fact that the goal is we log into the command centre for a centralised login should mitigate that? Plus with a local UI coming, whether it's an api key, Mqtt, or another method, i'm sure a local only method would still be viable. Quote

Yeah exactly, long term i want to get a UPS system, so being able to manage / monitor power to my NAS and other networking equipment will be super critical, especially if it goes down when you're away from the device. JokingChicken Posted December 1, 2024 Posted December 1, 2024 because hexos is based on truenas, you can just use the tools that are available for that. but it is on the hexos team to integrate this into their UI https://github.com/tomaae/homeassistant-truenas Quote
