Clean Update path from Beta 1 to 1.0?

Question

If I set up my NAS and start using it during the beta testing period, should I expect to be able to cleanly update HexOS without losing my array or needing to reinstall, all the way to 1.0 next year?

I'm very much hoping so as it's currently running docker, home assistant and frigate for me. All of which I can reinstall with backups to be fair which is why I've held off transferring all my files.

HexOs is still beta software. At least create a good backup. I also hope that there is a clean update path, but with beta software a reinstall is also possible.

I wouldn't consider V1 as a separate OS. it'll just be an update to your existing Hex install. Plus remember, underneath the hood is still just a truenas, Hex OS is layered on top / customises Truenas to optimise it all into a single package.

So when V1 comes out, expect a fairly seamless install / update process.

But regardless as mentioned, you should always have a good backup regime in place regardless of the OS!
