hex_user Posted December 1, 2024 Posted December 1, 2024 Should Hex os be open source, should they use sites like GitHub to replace their website? If so, what for, and how? Quote
hex_user Posted December 1, 2024 Author Posted December 1, 2024 Dear Hex OS developers I think Hex OS should use a site like GitHub for support feedback, and maintenance because this would: take the work of its team and allow it to be community-maintained while also being moderated speed up development help reach a broader audience lower price for the customer and the company. this would help produce a better picture of problems and solutions for hex os software allow more people to have access to help propose software changes. p.s. several companies use GitHub(ex. Ubuntu, and Chocolatey) providing useful ideas, hex_user 1 Quote
Mawson Posted December 2, 2024 Posted December 2, 2024 Hi bud, I know JonP has mentioned that there are some parts of HexOS that are/will be open source, but I don't believe the whole project will be. As for bug and feature request tracking, I think having a bit more structured of a platform may be a good idea. I don't know if the team has a ticket system yet, but I'm sure that will come with time as the team grows and the project progresses. Over the last few days we have had a HUGE influx of users, and I sense that it may be becoming a lot to keep tabs on all of the thoughts, suggestions, and comments that have been made, so this is a good idea at it's core, even if the details might not end up exactly how you are imagining 😊 P.S. I removed the duplicate thread you posted in the other sub forum. I think it makes the most sense in this one. Quote
Lockszmith Posted December 5, 2024 Posted December 5, 2024 I would agree. A freemium / community driven open-source option would be in tune with everything the project is relying on. I've paid for the project, believing it has the potential to be a game-changer for my family and friends who are not me - or might not have me around when they need/want something like this Quote
