It would be nice to be able to have SSO support. For example, LLDAP and OAuth2/OIDC would probably cover most of the people that would use SSO. I personally use Authentik which allows LDAP, OAuth2/OIDC, proxy provider, Radius, SAML, and SCIM.

Wholeheartedly agree with this.

There are a bunch of microservices we can install through the HexOS/TrueNAS UIs, and creating/managing separate users for each one becomes a major headache. The HexOS dashboard is just another webapp that has its own user management with no support for external authentication (yet). In 2026, software such as HexOS that aims to simplify the deployment of TrueNAS and microservices should support some form of SSO, preferably OAuth2/OIDC. Alternatively, parsing authentication headers such as `X-Forwarded-User` or `X-Authenticated-User` from a trusted reverse proxy is also a great way to add SSO support if a full OIDC integration is too challenging.

I would love to see HexOS become an authentication provider with automated integration to the various microservices so that even my grandma could configure it, but for now I'll settle for Authentik and some manual configuration.
