Good morning

I'm looking to replace my old Nas server that is  still running freenas. The hardware on that machine is an old FX8350.

My current plan is to build a new machine with used hardware that I have in stock. I want to know if there are any issues or recommendations for my current path.

My aim, build a back up server and Plex for my family.

Motherboard: b450 or b550

CPU: And 3200g - il will get a better CPU if required

Ram : 16gb ddr4

Storage: 16 - 20to HDD to be purchased, the old Nas have a 16to that is 70% full.

Power supply 850w

Graphic card Gtx1650 if needed

Of course, I already bought my license for Hexos months ago for that purpose.

Thank you for your advice

Frank

Just make sure to avoid motherboard with realtek nics (network interface cards)

To get expandable storage pools they need to be made with at least 3 drives
