Paeredox Posted April 20 Posted April 20 Is there going to be another sale before the full release, making it 100 dollars. Quote
Mobius Posted April 20 Posted April 20 There is nothing announced at this time. I wouldn't bet on it though since we are still at a discounted price right now 1 Quote
Todd Miller Posted April 22 Posted April 22 And to be realistic, it sounds like there were a lot of "Black Friday" licenses purchased so unless they need a fast cash influx what would really be the incentive? This is a business after all. Not to mention, Black Friday is not far off if they feel the need to bring on more people. But I am thinking they have a lot to develop and test with us before that time. These are exciting times in the consumer NAS space. Quote
Mawson Posted April 22 Posted April 22 Given the how wildly successful the $99 promotional price was, I think a case could be made that another promo like that would make sense if It brought in similar numbers. Not the same necessarily, but enough to where the math made sense. EG, 4X as many licenses sold in given period would still be double net the income, even at 50% less revenue per license. 1 Quote
Mobius Posted April 22 Posted April 22 I am hoping we get 1.0 before black friday (i have no basis for this hope) but if that does happen, i can't imagine a black friday sale to bring hexos down from the full price of $300 to $100. Quote

The best I would expect is maybe a Black Friday/Cyber Monday launch sale that drops the price to 150 lifetime, and then Tuesday December 2nd the price is at 300 dollars and we have 1.0 out of beta. Todd Miller Posted April 29 Posted April 29 Has there been any discussion on what the per month cost would be? Quote

David King Posted Thursday at 10:27 PM Posted Thursday at 10:27 PM I'm still sour that the $99 sale email landed in my spam, it was too late by the time I found it. I would've loved to have got in on the early access with a perpetual licence, alas triple digits is fiscally out of my reach Quote

Todd Miller Posted 21 hours ago Posted 21 hours ago When I go to that link and it offers me a $99 option is that because I am already an existing license/account/customer? If that is true then the two license option would have to be $198 not $298. Or I guess you could have decided in the spirit of goodwill and such, to reinstate the original BF sale price. I'm not questioning your decisions and choices nor you right to price your intellectual property however you wish. I am, however, asking for more clarity in future communication coming from admins and moderators so that you don't directly conflict with prior message unless you are clear that is your intent. If we are back to a $99 license for first time buyers then say it clearly. Quote

Yes our holiday sale allows existing customers to purchase additional licenses at $99 each. We do have a banner at the top of the forums page in green and an announcement post Quote

Todd Miller Posted 28 minutes ago Posted 28 minutes ago Just out of curiosity, did you click on the link? There is nothing I could see that says existing customers only. While other places in the forum seem to say that, you would think the place you make the purchase would be the most clearly marked with any restrictions. Sorry you missed the first offer because I think this product will make a lot of entry and mid level NAS admin wannabe's successful. But Eshtek has a lot of maturing to do to go to the next level and this is one small example. They will get a marketing person who looks at the releases from a standpoint other than a developer and a customer service person who thinks like a buyer not a developer who worked on the product. When they announce the monthly cost they have mentioned before, it may fit your budget better. Yes, it will eventually rise over the $99 but not immediately. And you will be in a position to see if you really even want the product. Though I can't imagine this really happening, but if I decide that HexOS is to dependent on me going into TrueNAS and not what I want, I'm still in fro $198. I'm sure there is more to come but when they went from $99 to $199, it really tied their hands. And it would be a real mess to change that now. Quote
