migcooper Posted March 28 Posted March 28 Hi all  as per the title one of my HDDs is faulty and i will be replacing it, the issue i have is that i have no spare SATA ports so the question is, can i shutdown the server, physically replace the damaged HDD with new one and then restart? or should i get a PCIE SATA card first and connect the new drive there and do the replacement via the UI? By the way, i know the exact one since its the only WD in the pool, so there is no chance of mixing things. Thank you Mig Quote
Dylan Posted March 28 Posted March 28 Hi @migcooper I would follow THESE instructions when replacing your disk. 2 Quote
Sonic Posted March 28 Posted March 28 @jonp, In case of HDD faillure it would great if HexOs guides the user with the HDD replacement. A small wizard with a few questions and then advice: do this, do that. Especialliy for non tech users it will make a big difference. Users will be nervous in case of HDD faillure. I think simple, low effort feature with big impact. Just my 2 cents. 2 Quote
