Dylan Posted March 20 Posted March 20 Cool break-down of the recent changes Plex plans on implementing next month. Kinda glad I got the lifetime for $99 a few months ago but, as dude said, this doesn't affect me.....yet. Quote
Mobius Posted March 20 Posted March 20 ah pain. even though i don't use plex myself the increase in price will just make convincing friends to get a plex nas all the more difficult. Jellyfin works perfectly for me but to my friends that want to use their playstation as a client, its not a great option sadly 1 Quote
Sonic Posted March 20 Posted March 20 a lifetime license is doubled in price. That's way to much if you ask me 1 Quote
Dylan Posted March 20 Author Posted March 20 48 minutes ago, Sonic said: a lifetime license is doubled in price. That's way to much if you ask me I don't disagree with you. But I do understand the need for a (relatively) small org like Plex to raise prices especially if that promotes better or consistent feature enhancement. With that said, what will turn me to the Dark Side is when price goes up with feature reduction (looking you Amazon, you piece of garbage). I want businesses who make decent products to be able to continue to do so. I also want to extract value from the price I've paid. What I do NOT want is to see orgs like Plex to be swallowed up in some corporate M&A that puts you back in trash heap like Amazon. What I think I'm trying to say is, I'd rather gamble and pay a Plex and hope they do the right thing than give the devil my money. There is, of course, the total DIY route, which I've done before (and am willing to do again) but would rather throw some loot towards Plex/HexOS which makes me fee like my money is better spent. At least that's the idea. Fcuk inflation BTW. 1 Quote
Mobius Posted March 20 Posted March 20 i haven't been following plex in a while but they kinda developed a reputation for not actually fixing their product. I wonder if things have improved since i last checked. Quote
Dylan Posted March 20 Author Posted March 20 I wouldn't know having only used Plex for about 3 months now. So far, for what it does as measured against my needs, it does it decent-to-well. I wish the interface was more responsive. Quote
