cabaucom376 Posted February 25 Posted February 25 I am planning a new server build for within the next month or two. I want to decide on a base OS to build upon, and HexOS piques my interest. Is there a time limit for when to activate the license by, and what does that process look like? I am considering just going ahead and getting the license to have for when my server is built. Also is it possible to play around with HexOS in a VM or would I have to test it on bare metal and decide if I want to continue with it then due to license redemption? Quote
Mobius Posted February 25 Posted February 25 There should not be a time limit for activating a license. Many of us here have bought a first or second license intending to activate it a lot later (myself included) Activating a license is pretty easy, once you install HexOS and turn on your machine, on a different device (on the same network) you go to Deck.Hexos.com and you can claim your server which will automatically activate it. Yes you can play with HexOS in a vm and there are a few users that run a HexOS vm in proxmox. You can always remove your Hexos license from your vm and move it to a different machine if you desire. If you have anymore questions don't hesitate to reach out. 1 Quote
ubergeek Posted February 25 Posted February 25 Also to note depending on what you have and what you are going to move to. I have made many moves of hardware and I use the same boot drive . The back end can be very versatile Quote
