I managed to install Jellyfin today, it was pretty easy (on the third attempt!!)

Before install I created a media folder as a public folder in HexOS, then created subfolders therein for movies, music, etc. Then installed in TrueNAS, left everything as default except for additional storage which was setup as:

  • Type: Host path (Path that already exists on the system)
  • Mount path: /media/movies (or other type)
  • Host path: navigate to, or type path to folders you created before install (for me was: /mnt/HDDs/Media/Movies etc)
  • Complete install, then in Jellyfin UI go through the wizard, and when you get to media libraries, select type, and display name, click +Folder, and browse from the drop down to the corresponding Host Path.

I can access it fine from a browser on my phone, haven't got to the point of using the Jellyfin client on other devices yet.

Where did you get this PDF? Are these installable rn?

There's some forum hidden until you get your invite to the beta. One of those forums had someone post that PDF.

They are installable, yes, but they are not one-click installs - Only Plex and Immich are one-click. You will need to do some configuration.

I already bought it. Still waiting for the invite. Fingers crossed

Hi there! Any app available for TrueNAS is also available in HexOS, but as noted by others, is not a one-click install, and will require you to drop into the TrueNAS UI.

We will expand our curated app selection with more apps, and feel free to request apps here in the forums so we know which apps to prioritize

As far as i know even tho it is on that list, as of the beta release only plex and immich has the easy hexos setup. Jellyfin will com later and for now it'll bring up the normal truenas way of installation.

That's pretty much what Magnus said, and he's one of the designers lol

good easy install for an app like jellyfin would be great, Plex seems like a good service, but the video organization is locked behind the pro tier while jellyfin is free

Im looking to install a Jellyfin server on my HEX os server, will this be an app?

dont hope for that, im trying to get it to work for 3 days now and this evening I finally give up....You can follow any documentation, video or setup guide, you will only collect bugs and weird fragments of your tries wich break other stuff. Use Plex (alltough it is add infested and costs a fortune), it seems to work for most of the people (didnt tried it yet, will tomorrow)

I've used JellyFin server running on windows, but have used Roku, LG TV, Android, and Windows to watch it. For the most part it runs fine but you may have to do some tweaking in the settings here and there on both the server and the client. Thanks though for the help, I've tried but just couldn't be asked to figure out how setup the folder structures.

I did the same, but Jellyfin doesn't detect the movies I put in the folder.

Hexos is not complete. A beginner simply creates a pool and nothing more. Everything else is possible through truenas, but with complicated settings. Jellyfin needs to set the dataset to the movies folder. Immich also doesn't work 100%. Beginners, use another OS because Hex is just a dream for now. Try to come back in a few months.
