Hey everyone,

I’m considering using a DELL Precision Rack 7910 as my home server and want to run HexOS on it (its a 3rd of the price including a cabinet). I wanted to gather some feedback on this setup, especially in terms of compatibility, performance, and any potential issues from people who might have experience with this kind of hardware and software combination.

Here are the key specs of the DELL Precision Rack 7910 :

  • 1x Intel Xeon E5-2620 V3 (2.4 GHz, 6 cores, 12 threads)
  • 16GB DDR4 RAM
  • 500GB SAS 2.5" SSD
  • 8x 2.5" SAS/SATA HDD/SSD bays
  • 1100W power supply
  • iDRAC management for remote access
  • PCI-Express riser cards for additional expansion

I’m planning to use it for tasks like NAS, light Plex server, and virtual machines.

From a hardware perspective that looks fine but I'd still review the HARDWARE requirements post as well as some of the comments. Personally, while I've not used that specific server, if you can, maybe throw some more RAM in there. Have fun!
