I am, but I don’t do much with it. Mostly I just take a Baofeng camping in case I need emergency communication. But that’s slowly becoming not an issue anymore. My iPhone does SMS texting over satellite, for example. I would talk to people but there’s like nobody my age on the air. I feel like I missed a fun era

Uhf/Vhf can be dead in some areas. I am mostly on HF you can find a topic of conversation on the lower bands. But I do recommend that if the area is dead reach out to the repeater owners and suggest running a NEt to bring it back to life. you  can easily find a list of hams in your area and make a mailing list to say that a net is coming back to the area and it would be nice if they could join

I've always thought this might be fun and every top tier engineer I've worked with was a HAM radio enthusiast.

If you like to tinker and build things it is a fun past time, I have rather enjoyed my self in all the little projects that can be found

Collins 30  or 32 i think transmitter and receiver on 11mhz range, The I go one of the Heath Kit rigs transmitter and Rec sets. That was back in the late mid 70's thru maybe 84 and I moved and never lived anywhere that i could put one up..

I use to do a lot of mods with my Uncle on CB's. There was this company can't remember the name but they released magazines that told you how to mod a CB  40 above 40 below and if SSB to slide a whole channel, me and my uncle we lived about 70 miles apart and talked all the time back then. Really miss those days. Tech is great but some of the people I talk to at night and on the weekend were actually better friends that I have to this day.
