  1. well i know its overkill for a NAS, but I'm also planning on hosting a Minecraft server on it and generally have a "server sanbox". I also wanted it to be efficient, and since the newest generation of AMD cpus is more focused on efficiency it just fit. Also is there any way to edit posts? I dont really have a beta invite, i thought i did but no luck.
  2. Budged: up to 2500€ Country: Germany Hi all, now that I finally got my beta invite im planning a new Nas build with only ssds. I want it to be efficient, quiet and powerful. Which is why I've gone for the admittedly overkill ryzen 7 9700x. I need some general configuration advice as I've never done a NAS or server build before. Current parts list CPU: ryzen 7 9700x Mobo: Asus PRIME B650-PLUS Ram: Corsair Vengeance 64 GB 4 x 16 GB DDR5-5600 CL36 Storage: 4x Samsung 990 EVO Plus 4 TB PCIe 5.0 X2 Os: HexOs More detailed list: https://de.pcpartpicker.com/list/CmGCb2 I have an old GTX 1070 I want to use as video out but I don't want to sacrifice one of my two x16 pcie slots. Can I just put it in a X1 slot? I know that I will need to cut it open on the end. And when the os is installed I might not need to keep it in anyway because it can be managed through a browser. Thoughts? To explain some of my thought process for these choices. I've gone with 4 x 16gb because I think the bandwidth of 4 sticks is more important for a Nas than the latency. The ssds I picked because they need only 2 lanes of pcie 5.0 instead of 4x pcie 4.0. I still need a 10gig network card but I haven't been able to find one that runs a 1x pcie 4.0 link. I only have 2 X1 slots on the motherboard. I also need a 16x pcie 5.0 expansion card to put all the ssds on. Im open to recommendations / Suggestions Sorry if this all sounds a bit rambling, I'm no writer. Thank you Melon_Block
