  1. EDIT: I went and watched the video, they do indeed mention a locally hosted version of the UI, so all good.
  2. Ah, I do hope that is the case. As much as I like the option to access my NAS remotely via a cloud portal, I very much want to be able to **not** do that and have a local/secure NAS I can use just the same.
  3. Well, I was aware of the cloud element, I mistakenly thought it was optional. Seems a bit of a step backwards to have a local NAS that requires an always online connection, no?
  4. I sense I perhaps missed something important about how this all ties together. Are we saying that if I don't have an internet connection on the network the NAS is on, then I do not have access to HexOS, so my locally running NAS loses that side of things and may as well be just running TrueNAS on it's own? I mistakenly assumed that the HexOS system/portal was accessible from the NAS it self, and the online component was an optional extra thing I could use...
  5. The current answer is this:
  6. Quite, I have two 12TB drives in RAID1, if I don't buy a third drive, I want to know if I'm going to end up locked in to RAID1 forever more without offloading all content elsewhere and doing a total reset.
  7. That wasn't what I asked though was it 😉 I'm asking if its possible to convert to an expandable pool after initial setup. The wording of the docs suggests "no", but the product is early beta and the real answer might well be "not yet" or "yes, but its complicated".
  8. If I were to create a pool of two drives (I assume in Raid 1) and later decide I want to move to an expandable pool, will there be an "upgrade" path for doing this, or will I be setting my self up for a headache?
