  1. SOLVED! stumbled onto this while looking for something else lol
  2. Hello, started buying new components for a full server upgrade. The ONLY parts that will reused from current server are the m.2 boot drive, and 3 HDD. how will I go about transferring the data and OS? iirc I read a while ago that you could just move the boot drive and storage to new build and it would all work fine? But I don’t know if I’m misremembering or not. thanks!
  3. Hey sorry for the late reply, didn't see the notif! thanks for offering. I don't have anything specific in mind but some possible ideas could be: -How to set up X App -How to upgrade the system -Troubleshooting a problem -One of those "top 10 interesting things about hexos" or "things you can do on it you might've not known" -Maybe more advanced things done through truenas? For example, I tried to set up tailscale to access my files outside my home but I wasn't able to properly configure it, and all the videos I found were either not helpful or for other OS. Same thing with some codec issues with plex. Thanks again! @ubergeek, if you happen to make anything let me know/link it and ill def check it out.
  4. You should be able to save the log in to the SMB share. I don’t think I’ve ever had to re log in for any of them.
  5. (Understandably this will be in the future) from my understanding Hex is meant to be a simpler/beginner friendly OS for NAS. and as one of the people who bought it specifically for it it would be really cool if there were official tutorials to set up different apps, etc. Most of the basic are already pretty easy to do but sometimes I get confused and when I try to look up tutorials I just find explanations for other OS and they don't seem to be the same steps. The videos themselves don't even need to be high budget, can just be someone looking at their screen explaining it lol
  6. when youre doing the folders and users you can set who has access to what, and password lock them (with the user pass) for example on my dash I have My folder, my dads folder, and my moms each with their respective folder set to private and they can only access their respective folders
  7. Might be too late for this, and not necessarily what you asked, but Id recommend also having a way to label them. Either on your phones notes app or a piece of paper (maybe in the case so you know where to find it?). When I first set up my server I got an error message overnight saying one of the drives were messed up and it said "drive ID XXXXXXXX" , luckily I only had 3 drives so it was easy to know what is what, but I stole my sisters label maker and put their ID in a easier to read place on the drive cage.
