  1. good news is, you're not blind. but unfortunately, you are in the waiting line for beta. stay tune on Waiting Room topic. if you do get your invitation, there will be another topic shown up about Installation and Setup, you will find the download link over there.
  2. the minimum requirement for HexOS is 8GB of RAM, so you can use 2x4GB of RAM with no problem. but if you plan to use some extra application on this server, having more RAM won't hurt
  3. Reach out support@hexos.com or https://hub.hexos.com/contact/ Hopefully they can help you out. And there's another similiar topic if you want to read it.
  4. At the very moment, not really clear how to update from beta to a full version. But hopefully it will not be a painful and easy to do and do not require a full clean install.
  5. If your laptop have 2 or more storage slot, plus 1 boot drive on top of that, by all mean, go for it.
  6. Yes you can migrate your license to another machine. Just unplug your old server or simply shutdown so the Deck cannot see that server, and then the option to Disconnect your old server will appears. All you have to do is click that button, and your license is free to use again at another machine. On top of that, your old server will still be functional, all your config and files still intacts. You can access it via TrueNAS UI. It just no longer being managed by HexOS.
  7. Stay tune on Waiting Room's topic. You might get a chance to get invited earlier.
  8. The idea is HexOS for average people, non tech savvy and can't be bother or too complicated for them to learn setup NAS server. With this easy of use software, everyone can setup their own NAS server and be done for it. And yes, this is not for everyone, especially for tech savvy out there who can be able to build their own NAS with no difficulty at all.
  9. No right now as this form of beta stage.. Hopefully when they release v1.0, we can be able to import existing config from TrueNAS
  10. You just missed a chance for being invited earlier. Stay tuned at topic Waiting Room from now and then.
  11. in the TrueNAS, you could juat import the existing pool, and your data still intach.. But as right now in beta, HexOS ignores all of existing pool and data and treat it as a new drives and wipes everything. Lets hope the developers acknowledge this and let us import the existing pool.
  12. even if you going to use unRAID, the parity drive HAS TO BE AT LEAST the same size or larger than the data drives. Which in your case, you have to use 18TB as a parity drive, and you left out with 8TB and 4TB, That will be a waste for 18TB drive. Just build with the same size all across your drives.
  13. i believe you should setup your drives RAID in the NAS software (HexOS, TrueNAS, unRAID, etc) Let the software manages it.
  14. From the Deck, simply click Disconnect this server. And then your license is free to use and setup a new server again.
  15. That is correct, if you only has 1 HexOS license, dan have 2 servers, from the old server simply pull out the ethernet cord or shutdown (the idea is HexOS Deck can not detect/reach out that server anymore) From the Deck, simply click Disconnect this server. after that, your old server is no longer being managed by HexOS, but you could still using it by accessing the TrueNAS UI, all configs and files are untouched. Since then, the HexOS license is free to use again and setup to the new server.
  16. The license is forever belongs to you. You can use it at any time as you want.
  17. HexOS is based on TrueNAS. When you remove HexOS from old machines, you just disconnect HexOS from TrueNAS. The TrueNAS itself still there, all configs and files untouched. You could still using your old machine via TrueNAS UI and of course access all of your files. Just simply setup HexOS at your new machine, and copy paste your files. Hope it clears out.
  18. As for right now, all of beta users using HexOS dashboard from https://deck.hexos.com Yes, it is online. But when v1.0 being release, you will have options to run dashboard locally.
  19. Yes you can, just click Disconnect from HexOS UI, and your license is free to use again.
  20. I think there's some explaination in the forum somewhere. Let say you have 2 drives of 512GB and 1 drive of 500GB. You can use those 3 drives together but the 512GB drives will have sacrifice its capacity in order to match the lower capacity drive. And you'll ends up with 3 "usable" 500GB drives.
  21. After further looking, i think i found the answer. Remember that HexOS just manages the TrueNAS underneath? You could just disconnect HexOS from your old machine. First, pull out the ethernet cord or shutdown to make HexOS couldn't see your machine, after that click Disconnect this server. Therefore your HexOS license is free and can be able to setup at another machine. Meanwhile your old machine is still there, all configs and files are untouched, HexOS just no longer managed it, you could still continue using your old machine by accessing the TrueNAS UI or if like you said, want to move the entire data from old machine to new one, simply copy paste your data. Hope this can clear out the confusion.
  22. If you want to increase your drives capacity, ideally just adding another drive with same capacity as older drive. In order to do of that, the initial setup must at least 3 drives. But if you do want to swapping old drive with the new one, you can do that by swapping one by one. It will be a long and tedious process, but can be done.
  23. You could find the requirements (and drive limits) for initial setup at https://hexos.com/early-access-faq
  24. If you want the expandable capability, the minimum requirement is 3 drives at initial setup.
  25. if i'm not mistaken, you can still access the disconnected server via TrueNAS webUI (typing your machine's IP address directly in web browser), as it no longer managed by HexOS. And by that logic, it should be still accessible and you can transfer your data. Need further testing, as i'm waiting my new hardware arrives
