You can also change the password from the NAS itsself . You will need to plug in a keyboard and monitor and go threw the options to reset password for GUI login

I would let the n100 be a backup for major data and use that powerhouse of a 8525 do the rest

Im not saying that it wont happen yet HexOs is still very young in its life let it get some ground underneath its feet and there is no clue how far it will grow with all the cool toys out there

can you see the truenas dashboard ? you can use something like angry IP scanner to find it on the network

Has anyone tried to install this on an older intel Mac mini or trash can Mac Pro? I have both that were set to be recycled and was thinking of turning one of them into a host and connect a Sabrent 4bay hard drive docking station for storage.
i have one that i need to pick up and i thought about trying it on this hardware

That would be a perfect hexos box

What hyper hypervisor are you using?

I think this is especially important during a beta where we're encouraged to not have production level expectations.
If I'm supposed to test out HexOS, the lower the bar to try, the better. I don't want to tear down and split a real NAS or build a second to test. Let me take a little 1 drive used mini PC and let me mess about.
With that being said is it really that difficult to get 2 small drives to do testing with? I mean my first pool was a pair of 1tb desktop drives so I could test drive it

There's some seriously impressive and creative rigs here! I'm on the lower-end of specs (trying to stay on a budget until I get the hang of things and establish what my actual needs are), but things have been going smoothly so far! Hoping to upgrade to a Jonsbo case one day and fill it with hand-me-down hardware from my gaming rig. Bought the following off FB marketplace for about $125.
-Case: HP P600 (holds up to x5 3.5" HDDs with some minor modifications to add hot-swappable slots on the front and an additional fans in the front/side.
-CPU: Ryzen 2600
-RAM: 16GB
-Mobo: Asrock a320m-hdv micro ATX
-GPU: Nvidia GTX970 (considering removing to reduce idle power draw - don't think this is useful for anything other than a video output)
-Boot drive: random 128 GB M.2 SSD (not sure of brand.... hoping HexOS adds the ability to backup the configs sooner than later...)
-PSU: Phanteks Revolt 1000W 80 Plus Platinum (laughably overkill.... computer came with a sketchy EVGA white PSU that I replaced ASAP - this is a hand-me-down from the gaming rig.)
-Storage: (x3) 10 TB shucked HDDs (two seagate barracudas and one WD). Looking forward to expanding this one day soon!
Hopefully the below specs help assure others just how easy it is to run this software. I'll definitely need to upgrade my memory and CPU if I start loading too many apps on it, but this runs immich just fine for now with about 50% of RAM to spare!
Tbh its not bad, You dont need a massive power house to be a good nas, It helpsif you are going to stuff it full of APPS . And I wouldnt say 1000w is overkill. I wish I had it in my build. "15x 3.5 drives on a 650" and I am using all the adaptors to make it work but still have the headroom for a rtx2060.
I also just built a back up server on the cheap for what storage is in it here

If I was going all new this would be my build out
NEW EGG BUNDLE " CPU MOBO RAM PSU"
Silverstone-Technology-CS380B-Storage-Cases
just add storage

I have claimed my server, setup and can log in and out of my deck. However, I'm trying to setup Immich and need to login to TrueNas but can't login. I've tried truenas_admin and truenas_login. Any suggestion. Thanks
I assume you are using the password you setup in the install? if that is still not working you will need to plug in a monitor, keyboard and mouse to the NAS and you will have the ability to change the truenas_admin password

This is a loaded question lol. I have seen many people but the amazon pci / m.2 to sata adaptors but If im spending the money I'd look for a used SLI Raid card thats Flashed for IT mode " AKA it will pass threw the connected device without needing to make it a Raid Storage.
I personally run THIS CARD IN MY BUILD and if you are worried about adding more than 8 drives It is easy to put in a sas expansion card to add more. Also note you can add this card and still use the existing sata on the motherboard with out issues
