Will 1.0 launch this month as expected?
Todd Miller replied to Anthem's topic in Roadmap & Feature Requests
Hey, you can't leave a cliffhanger like! Don't friends normally share bigger impacts with one another? 😁 -

Bought a 2-pack for buddy backup - how to share it?
Todd Miller replied to bb1's topic in Other Questions
I believe there was a long discussion in a few posts but it came down to two licenses, two accounts. If I am wrong someone will surely correct me. Hold on, I take that back because that way you could sell the second license and defeat the pricing overall. -

[EZFS_CKSUM] Failed to import 'HDDs' pool: cannot import 'HDDs' as 'HDDs': insufficient replicas and now im getting this
-
As far as I understand it I only have one license and one account? Is it possible to get a second account for my buddy? How is this supposed to work? Or does this just allow me to have 2 server in my one account? I'm confused.

Will 1.0 launch this month as expected?

We have no editorial input or control over the LTT videos. We don't pay for sponsorship or anything like that either. The fact that it came out this weekend was pure happenschance. We are looking into the SMB issue and will see what we can do from our side to address. Tbh, what we have planned for the rest of the year is going to have an even bigger impact than the 1.0 release in my mind. With respect to price, an announcement about our scheduling pricing changes will be coming soon. -

Hey, I have a couple questions. After watching the latest LTT video about needing a NAS, did you ask for a little publicity now that you are in the 1.0 neighborhood? I have NO problem if you did but i'm not sure they really did the product a favor. Yes the setup overall show the simplicity but the SMB issue is pretty common and pretty troubling. Plouffe did say it was a Microsoft issue but most people don't have many people willing to bail you out. And Microsoft security setting are not something you screw with if you don't have real experience. You probably could have done without that "I get the key. So I didn't pay for it.' comment as well. Oh well, any publicity is good publicity right? The video was a little weird to watch sine it must have been filmed a few months ago. So now that you have reached this point is the price going up? That would put you right up there with the lifetime Unraid price. You have been warning folks all along it would happen so we can't ack surprised. -
@mill3000 let's take a look at his issue this week.
-
I have had about a half dozen apps suddenly fail to update. For a while it was just immich, now it is multiple apps. Has anyone else had this experience? It's very frustrating. Have never had this issue in the past, started in the last month or so...

jonp replied to Anthem's topic in Roadmap & Feature Requests
All we can say at this point is we are slowing rolling out local to new users. Over 400 so far have been migrated. -
my issue has been resolved. for anyone in the future that finds this thread seeking the same information that i was, the correct process is to reach out via email to support@hexos.com

I was a bit late to the party and only recently picked up a couple of licenses. Out of curiosity, is there an ETA for the 1.0 rollout for those of us who onboarded more recently? -
Prioritizing Buddy Backup over standard Cloud Backup ?
G-M0N3Y-2503 replied to zavock's question in OS & Features
At one point I was thinking of gifting some family member a NAS, but license transfers aren't a thing and the cost of HW these days. I'd like to avoid the cloud too, so my current "off-site" backup is a laptop that I plan to grab running out the door. -
unfortunately, hexos just isnt for me. I have sent an email requesting a refund for my order to support@hexos.com, as per the suggestion of a form member, but i see people posting refund requests on here. so i am unsure of the correct process.

Error too many open files even after updates
DubTee replied to Dirtscootdesigns5956's question in OS & Features
Genius! Thank you so much for this, genuinely. Whatever this bug is has been preventing me from upgrading for months. I'd check updates once in a while and then just regress and go back to running 25.04. As soon as I hit ENTER key on the last line of the script, everything settled down immediately. I think you can tell at what time the script was entered lol. -

Parachaye replied to Anthem's topic in Roadmap & Feature Requests
Well that was unexpected! I think that's absolutely fair enough if it's launched but onboarding is phased. Very keen to see more curated apps come up now! That's magic of hexos I'm hoping for finally coming to fruition. -
Prioritizing Buddy Backup over standard Cloud Backup ?
Parachaye replied to zavock's question in OS & Features
I think buddy backup priority makes sense since that'd be a major differentiator for hexos compared to other NAS options (including truenas). Although tbh I don't have the hardware (especially the harddrives) for a second server so I'm not likely to use it until a future upgrade after the AIpocalyse ends. I've got Proton drive and just wish they get on with a linux client. Or Hexos VMs release and I can then run a windows VM with proton drive to backup critical docs and pictures. -
We've added everyone from our list. We'll start to migrate people based on the order of purchase to local UI.

I bought my license the day it became available but I've been waiting on this release to install. My server has just been sitting in the rack waiting. Excited to finally try it out, hopefully the download becomes available soon. -
I just ran through this this morning. The permissions for all my apps stayed in place without issue, however it looks like user permissions are gone - the users still exist, but their permissions to their shares/folders are missing currently. Going to give it a bit of time to see if it rebuilds it later on. Will update if that changes or if I need to manually add them back.

Prioritizing Buddy Backup over standard Cloud Backup ?
PsychoWards replied to zavock's question in OS & Features
Just my 2 cents, but for me buddy backup is more important, since I have 2 Hexos servers and I can be my very own buddy and I'm not planning on every using a cloud service as storage (smartphone stuff doesn't count, you don't really have much of a choice there 😉 ) Additional Buddy Backup was one of the promoted features and there have been quite a few people asking about it since the initial release of the beta. Cloud backup on the other hand was not really promoted and as @Todd Miller mentioned there were far less requests for it so far. Therefore likely why they prioritised Buddy Backup over cloud storage. So from a commercial point of view Buddy Backup is a stronger selling point that sets Hexos appart from other NAS solutions. I'm not saying that cloud storage support should not be done, but at least this (forum) part of the community is currently more interested in buddy backup. -
As a bonus: If your server did what mine just did and completely freaked out on 2FA (NTP was setup and sync'd properly, 2FA code sync'd properly... fun times) this handy script will save you. Steps: 1. Login locally to the device. 2. Select Option 8: Open Linux Shell: 3. Type this code in: midclt call auth.twofactor.update '{"enabled": false}' 4. Login with your username and password, select System > Advanced Settings. 5. Scroll all the way down and confirm Global Two Factor Authentication is Disabled:
-
As an update to the guide above: On step 2 and step 15, the interface has changed where to export and upload the configuration file as of version 25.10.2.1. The new location is here: System > Advanced Settings.

Prioritizing Buddy Backup over standard Cloud Backup ?
zavock replied to zavock's question in OS & Features
Just to clarify, I’m definitely not one of the people who has been 'squeaking' or putting pressure on the devs. I actually really appreciate the work they’ve done. My post wasn't meant as a complaint, but rather as a genuine attempt to understand the logic behind the current priorities. I totally get that with the 1.0 release happening right now and all the feedback the team is juggling, the timing of my post might have been poorly interpreted. I apologize if it came across as 'just another demand'—that really wasn't my intent. The main reason I brought this up is that an integrated cloud backup (using StorJ/TrueNAS) was actually mentioned in the initial 2024 blog post as a supplement to Buddy Backup. Since I haven't seen much talk about it elsewhere, I just wanted to restart the conversation and see where it stands on the roadmap. Again, sorry if this was misread. I really like the project and I just want to see it become the best version of itself. -
Prioritizing Buddy Backup over standard Cloud Backup ?
Todd Miller replied to zavock's question in OS & Features
Hmm. Try to take this in the nature I mean it but HAVE YOU READ THESE FORUMS? I bet you can't find five other people calling for cloud storage access. I'm not saying they don't want it, just they are the silent folks. The squeaky wheel has hammered the team for local UI, not web access, and buddy backup. We are going to give Jonp a nervous breakdown if we keep trying to prioritize the next important thing before we even let them finish the core. I think your question is valid and your overall safety and security is solid but if they did things in the order you wanted there should not have been any work done on applications until the 1.0 NAS was build. I have agreed with most of the questioning of how thing were done up to now. And I agree security and backups are critical to the point that needs to be shored up next. I'm one of the loudest critics this project has but I think it's time to step back, take a breath, let the dust settle and maybe celebrate a little. There is a forum topic for what apps should be looked at next. If you have a favorite put it in there. I might not ever use it but I am not arrogant enough t think my NAS/2 Local/2 Remote backup setup can't be improved or made simpler I'm going to personally step back and say congratulations team. I'm not in the first group so I haven't seen the 1.0 version but I know it was a lot of work. Reading through the forums overall, including posts like this, I can see there is still lots of work to do. And @jonpI am looking forward to shaking my head and second guessing every post like you are going out of your way to make my life more difficult, just like I have for the last year+. But for now, my hat if off to you. 😌
