So, I have a few questions. 1. My server, an old 170z system 32 gig ram 1070 gpu, likes to randomly "freeze". It wont show up on the network, I cant ssh into it, and, as far as i can tell, the keyboard becomes unresponsive. The only thing i can do is a hard shutdown, which i do not like doing because its running off 4 nas HDD's and I know a hard shut down is not a fun thing for them. I'm sure its a hardware issue since my mobo is an old msi gaming z, that has the problem that it will thermal throttle the cpu even if its below 70C. I had to disable the temp monitoring in bios and it works good as "new". I'm wondering if this is an issue that is common or just something my system is doing. 2. Is there a way to get the system to show a display after the monitor turns off. My system shows a display when it first turns on, but as soon as i shut off the monitor and turn it back on; it will not display a picture until it is rebooted. I did a test today and shut off the monitor and turned it right back on and no signal. 3. If i buy a remote management pcie card can i hook it up to a laptop to monitor the system instead of having to ssh into it using command line? In tech youtuber videos they just walk up to their rack, open a laptop, and off they go doing stuff in their server. I only ask because of issue #1. with the system in headless mode; I cannot see what it is trying to do when it "freezes". I would like a way to be able to give it a command to restart.

Expanding Storage Pools in Hexos – Support for Drives of Different Sizes?
austinthetaco replied to bonecrusher's question in OS & Features
I just tried replacing a drive with a larger capacity drive and hexos says it wont allow me and i need a "suitable candidate". is there something special I have to add a 16tb drive to the pool of 12tb drives? -

I wanted to name Network 1 and Network 2 with Display Names like 1G or 10G. Thought maybe those were reserved names so I tried to name it Slippy. Nope. Same error 500. Full page error. Very limited information. Hope this helps. 500 this._def.values is not iterable

Question about HexOS license transfer?
Mawson replied to Capox's topic in Roadmap & Feature Requests
Welcome Capox! HexOS license are easily transferred, so you need not worry! Many of us do have multiple licenses however, as we have multiple machines we are running at once. A local backup server, and a physically remote one for off site backups, for example. -
In terms of being "correct" even. I use domain names on my network, so the IP address doesn't have the cached credentials. But to PsychoWards point,I think it makes sense to use from a discoverability point of view. You can't google your local network if you don't remember the exact address.

Hey, thanks for your answer! So as long as my boot drive stays the same i can change every other component right? So even when i do a complete new build in the future as long as the boot drive stays the same i should be Fine? I mean when i install it on a M.2 I should be safe since these things pretty much never die… I Hope 😅

Hi! Having this same issue since just today, as far as I can tell. Been using HexOS pretty much since a few days after it launched. Just like others, I can interact with the NAS just fine in any other way, like accessing the TrueNAS Scale interface directly, or accessing an SMB Share, it's just deck.hexos.com seemingly not connecting to it. Please advise on how to fix it, if a solution has been identified by now. Thanks in advance.
-
What would be your intended use case for this? Opening the deck website, going to the apps section and clicking the launch button is not a way I imagine you would want to visit immich. 🙂 Sth like Heimdall would offer you this flexibility (and more) already.
-
I use a reverse proxy, it would be great if I can for example modify the address the "launch" button takes me to. So if I want to open immich instead of the local ui it takes me to immich.reverseproxy.com

domain/SSL certificate are a pain in the ass to get for non-techies. Synology made it very easy for me to get a sub-domain linked to my nas. (a my domain. Synology. Me sudomain ) After buying my own domain. I was able to get a ssl certificate from within my synogely nas web interface linked to by c-naming my domain to synology.me (by generating a letsencrypt cert) Now I am able to assign a ssl certificate to a docker container and have it be adresable by sudomaining my baught domain. As wel as configure basic access rules for those containers. This process is buggy as hell. And fails utterly on complex compose projects. And getting a wildcard ssl certificate is completely out. So you have to pick all the subdomains names you want when generating the ssl certificate. However it complete allows me to let portfowarding be handled by my nass. And have 1 set of user accounts be the truth for access control. I hope hexos can be as powerful as this in the future. For example taking over portfowarding would already be a great start. Because then there would be just 1 ui. And may be mange ssl certifates in 1 spot

Question about HexOS license transfer?
ubergeek replied to Capox's topic in Roadmap & Feature Requests
Shott answer yes. Long answer is when you swap hardware you'll need to make sure that when you do swap you'll need to make sure that you reconfigure the new bios to point to your boot drive and turn off secure boot. I have done alot with swapping hardware in testing since the first drop of hexOs and it is still running with out any issues -
Hey, So I tried to use two ports for data transfers over Omada. I created the aggregation on the Turenas UI and on Omada. Everything seems to be working except I can no longer access the Hexos hub. Not sure what to do to be able to access it, please advise.

Hello everyone, I’m a complete beginner and currently thinking about building my first ever NAS. HexOS seems like the easiest way to get started. I’d like to initially use an old PC as my NAS, and later on, I might build a dedicated NAS system. Now, here’s my question: If I buy a HexOS license now and install it on my old PC, will I be able to transfer it to a new build later on, or would I need to purchase a new license? Thanks in advance! Greetings from Germany 🇩🇪

I followed the guide but kept getting permission errors like below. I followed some advice to fix the specific permission issues and once it was running none of my photos were there. Maybe the next step is to just factory reset everything on my server and upload all my photos manually again. 2025-10-16 03:07:09.910169+00:00microservices worker error: PostgresError: password authentication failed for user "immich", stack: PostgresError: password authentication failed for user "immich" 2025-10-16 03:07:09.910238+00:00at ErrorResponse (/usr/src/app/server/node_modules/.pnpm/postgres@3.4.7/node_modules/postgres/cjs/src/connection.js:794:26) 2025-10-16 03:07:09.910251+00:00at handle (/usr/src/app/server/node_modules/.pnpm/postgres@3.4.7/node_modules/postgres/cjs/src/connection.js:480:6) 2025-10-16 03:07:09.910270+00:00at Socket.data (/usr/src/app/server/node_modules/.pnpm/postgres@3.4.7/node_modules/postgres/cjs/src/connection.js:315:9) 2025-10-16 03:07:09.910280+00:00at Socket.emit (node:events:518:28) 2025-10-16 03:07:09.910290+00:00at addChunk (node:internal/streams/readable:561:12) 2025-10-16 03:07:09.910299+00:00at readableAddChunkPushByteMode (node:internal/streams/readable:512:3) 2025-10-16 03:07:09.910315+00:00at Readable.push (node:internal/streams/readable:392:5) 2025-10-16 03:07:09.910325+00:00at TCP.onStreamRead (node:internal/stream_base_commons:189:23) 2025-10-16 03:07:09.921175+00:00microservices worker exited with code 1 2025-10-16 03:07:09.921243+00:00Killing api process 2025-10-16 03:07:13.781895+00:00Initializing Immich v2.0.1 2025-10-16 03:07:13.784667+00:00Detected CPU Cores: 2 2025-10-16 03:07:15.611937+00:00Starting api worker 2025-10-16 03:07:15.615987+00:00Starting microservices worker 2025-10-16 03:07:18.009089+00:00[32m[Nest] 7 - [39m10/15/2025, 8:07:18 PM [32m LOG[39m [33m[Microservices:EventRepository][39m [32mInitialized websocket server[39m 2025-10-16 03:07:18.098841+00:00PostgresError: password authentication failed for user "immich" 2025-10-16 03:07:18.098891+00:00at ErrorResponse (/usr/src/app/server/node_modules/.pnpm/postgres@3.4.7/node_modules/postgres/cjs/src/connection.js:794:26) 2025-10-16 03:07:18.098922+00:00at handle (/usr/src/app/server/node_modules/.pnpm/postgres@3.4.7/node_modules/postgres/cjs/src/connection.js:480:6) 2025-10-16 03:07:18.098937+00:00at Socket.data (/usr/src/app/server/node_modules/.pnpm/postgres@3.4.7/node_modules/postgres/cjs/src/connection.js:315:9) 2025-10-16 03:07:18.098949+00:00at Socket.emit (node:events:518:28) 2025-10-16 03:07:18.098969+00:00at addChunk (node:internal/streams/readable:561:12) 2025-10-16 03:07:18.098982+00:00at readableAddChunkPushByteMode (node:internal/streams/readable:512:3) 2025-10-16 03:07:18.098994+00:00at Readable.push (node:internal/streams/readable:392:5) 2025-10-16 03:07:18.099005+00:00at TCP.onStreamRead (node:internal/stream_base_commons:189:23) { 2025-10-16 03:07:18.099026+00:00severity_local: 'FATAL', 2025-10-16 03:07:18.099038+00:00severity: 'FATAL', 2025-10-16 03:07:18.099050+00:00code: '28P01', 2025-10-16 03:07:18.099062+00:00file: 'auth.c', 2025-10-16 03:07:18.099073+00:00line: '334', 2025-10-16 03:07:18.099083+00:00routine: 'auth_failed' 2025-10-16 03:07:18.099102+00:00}

i would say if you don't intend to do ai workloads, skip the gpu and get one of the few xeons with an igpu. just by existing a dgpu like your 1660 super will be using like 10-20w at idle. intel quick sync transcoding is actually really good and nothing to scoff at. I think even now it is considered the gold standard for low power transcoding

So regardless of which FileBrowser you go with you can't just install it and expect to see all the datasets on the HexOS server? I'm not to shook up about this, I am just used to global file browsers of the linux distro I have. Well, and windows explorer as well I guess. I guess as the admin I am just used to seeing everything because I have access to everything. I'm probably just missing something yet.
