SHexAdmin Posted December 3, 2024 Posted December 3, 2024 I can’t find information on it. Does anyone know how licensing works? I watched the installation. Does it apply the license when you claim the server from the Command Deck? Quote
electrus Posted December 4, 2024 Posted December 4, 2024 It applies when it is claimed and frees when the server is disconnected from the Command Deck. 4 Quote

Do you know if you got 2 physical server (1 for backup)and 1 license if you can take your license from your server to the backup server you want to setup and put the license back in your main server gonna work ? Or you will need 2 license to make that setup work ? Quote

After these operations: The backup server wouldn't be managed at all by Command Deck TrueNAS would still be accessible on the backup, and can be managed from there. I don't know how HexOS updates work when disconnected from Command Deck. The backup server cannot use any HexOS-specific replication features that come out, without its own license. The backup server can be targeted for replication to the extent that TrueNAS supports the arrangement. When setting up the backup server: The main server wouldn't be managed. 1 Quote

That is correct, if you only has 1 HexOS license, dan have 2 servers, from the old server simply pull out the ethernet cord or shutdown (the idea is HexOS Deck can not detect/reach out that server anymore) From the Deck, simply click Disconnect this server. after that, your old server is no longer being managed by HexOS, but you could still using it by accessing the TrueNAS UI, all configs and files are untouched. Since then, the HexOS license is free to use again and setup to the new server. Quote
Magnus Posted December 5, 2024 Posted December 5, 2024 Hi there! One license lets you claim and manage a single server. As noted above, you may disconnect that server and claim another server. Your first server then essentially becomes a TrueNAS server and you will no longer get any services, features or updates from HexOS at that point. Edit: In the future we may put limits on how often you can disconnect and claim servers in this way. Quote
