deck.hexos.com external access

Hi does deck.hexos.com work as remote server access? I assume that most users want to go remotely. Provide access to family and friends who are not in the local network.

Hi there! Yes, you can manage your server from anywhere, but remote access to installed apps or files is not currently supported.

@MagnusIs remote access to apps planned? Being able to access my photos, music, and other media was kind of the point of me trying to this. Maybe I misunderstood what HexOs is for. Is this only for on network access at home?

Can you not just setup TailScale for all the docker apps to access remotely?

Got HexOs so I didn't have to learn truenas lol. Guess I have to anyway. Just not sure what HexOs is for if you can't use apps remotely except for a home media server.

Any app. you have running on HexOS can be accessed if you setup access. Like a Reverse Proxy. Plus apps that have built in tunnels like Plex would work fine. I have the plex server running and I can see it on my phone from anywhere.

I can see the apps on my phone but if I am not on my Wi-Fi it doesn't do anything when I click the launch button for Plex or immich

the apps on your hexos server work locally
when your phone is not on the same network it cannot connect to the apps on your server.
if you setup something like tailscale you would be able to see your apps even when you aren't on wifi.

Hexos is still in beta so a lot of things are still reliant on truenas ui, fingers crossed in the future things will be very different.
