Based on the install videos I watched, there is currently no choice to adopt an existing pool. That means you must migrate your data to an external location to install HexOS. This is going to be difficult for people who have multiple terabytes of data.

I was also wondering if we can adopt our current TrueNas, or if we'll need to backup, and then reinstall and upload our TrueNas backup. Would be ideal to offer those running TrueNas a migration path to HexOS as the frontend.

Hmm... I wonder what would happen if you "exported" a pool in TrueNAS, powered down and pulled the drives. Then after setting up HexOS, on perhaps a couple small drives, powered down and swapped back in your ZFS Pool. Would entering the TrueNAS interface and importing the pool then put it back in the control of HexOS?

Hi there! This is not supported in the beta. We will be looking at this later. I have seen multiple people get creative however, but please be careful with your data!
