Canadianhummus Posted December 2, 2024 Posted December 2, 2024 How feasible would it be to have a commuity section apps of the app store. Where commuity trusted members can upload apps. We could potentially leverage the ranking system to determine what ranking allows for upload. Not sure what the security ramifications are.... I am sure there would need to be some sort of approval process and maybe/probably some sort app checker to verify source code. I also understand some documentation would need to be published to assist in developing for the OS. Let me know what you think 🤔 2 Quote
10jmellott Posted December 5, 2024 Posted December 5, 2024 This is a great idea! I'd love to see a Community Apps registry. Hopefully, as HexOS gets more popular, there's a real-world scenario where companies or platforms would be their own maintainers of their own apps, rather than the crew at HexOS. Outside of that, niche use cases could be better solved once and shared via a small community and listed as 'unverified' but still gives a way for people to try solutions that others have put forward. In SCALE we have access to container-based-apps, via https://www.truenas.com/docs/scale/22.12/scaletutorials/apps/docker/, which could mean an initial version of this could be as simple as basic setup and launch configurations for existing Docker images which are already maintained by the parent organization or open-source developers.
