SAS controller support

If I install a SAS controller in my old Dell T5500 workstation (32Gb, Xeon X5677 - 4 core , 8 thread) with 4*8TB SAS drives will this be supported. The controller I'm considering is the  the LSI 9300-8i

Should be. I can't see any reason SAS wouldn't be supported.

if it can be made to  work in truenas it can be made to work... its just out of the box?
