Easy back up to an external

I’m still in the process of building a Truenas machine, and I wanted to address something I think that would be useful in terms of making easy: backing up to any external drive. Whether that is xfs, zfs, hfs+, etc. Being able to easily back up to an external drive to start and maybe down the line a means to do so to LTO or even optical media would be huge.

I realize I may be niche in the latter, but I work in film and typcially we require stable long term archival back ups, and having an affordable way to do LTO or optical disc back ups would be awesome.

I truly look forward to seeing this project come together. I currently own one license and I look forward to testing it out on a test machine once I have a free one available.
