The_Green_Nerd2 Posted December 1, 2024 Posted December 1, 2024 Howdy y'all, just wanted to start this Topic on my plans for HexOS, I plan to use my old 11th Gen Framework Mainboard as a 2nd NAS / Game server host. I'm thinking of getting HexOS installed onto the mainboard and the plan for storage is to save up for a Thunderbolt DAS and seeing how well that works. I'll be updating this post with whatever comes up and also to show off if this is even viable. Thanks for ya time! 1 Quote
8andage Posted December 1, 2024 Posted December 1, 2024 Also have a framework mainboard, currently running a 20tb file share with btrfs in linux using an nvme sata adapter. Have not gone any further due to complexity/security issues, Hopeful for the future of HexOS Quote
Mawson Posted December 2, 2024 Posted December 2, 2024 Does the 14" mainboard have a way to expose PCIe lanes so that one could plug in a commonly available HBA and be able to run multiple drives? Maybe via a USBC adapter of some sort? Quote
8andage Posted December 2, 2024 Posted December 2, 2024 I did this via a thunderbolt 3 dock for a gpu, something like this https://www.razer.com/gaming-egpus/razer-core-x). but a different model Quote
elevens Posted December 24, 2024 Posted December 24, 2024 I'm doing the exact same thing. Board installed in the CoolerMaster case, Storage in a Terramaster TD2 Thunderbolt DAS. Still saving pennies to pick up 2 drives. Quote
Rx_The_Harmacist Posted January 25 Posted January 25 Has anyone gotten this working with HexOS? I tried it with a USB 3.1 DAS and had the error with the drives being reported under the same #. I've looked into thunderbolt enclosures and M.2-SATA adapters, but am hoping for confirmation that someone has gotten it working 😂. Really want to get it working with the framework board lol Quote
